IGN: Plants vs. Zombies PSN Review

Plants vs. Zombies is charming and addictive, standing right up there with the best of PopCap's offerings like Peggle. It has that elusive "special something" that gets its hooks in you and convinces you to forego food, sleep, and other essentials just to see what the next level has in store. Even if you've already played through the game on PC or iPhone, the new versus multiplayer mode is definitely worth checking out.

Plants vs Zombies on PSN will be EXCELLENT!

InfectedDK4823d ago

Great game. Fantastic it's getting a PSN debut.

Lol, I love all these people who hate IGN for no reason... IGN is also in words like sIGN, fIG Newton, and IGNite.

Please explain why IGN is ignorant, and if you can't it seems like you are the ignorant one...

ShinMaster4823d ago

They have been making crappy scoring decisions lately.

Apparently, if a sequel is better than previous game(KZ3, Naruto:UNS2, LBP2, etc) they give it a lower score.

Esena4823d ago

@ShinGino

I understand that can be annoying, but when it is a different reviewer you can't do much about it.

Also, if you just look at the score you will get that frustrated impression, but if you read and see it is better than the previous, what's the big deal?

ShinMaster4823d ago

That's true. Most of the reviewers that reviewed the sequels and gave them a lower score were different people.
But some of these people shouldn't be reviewing the type of games that they don't like in the first place.

achira4823d ago

better than kz3 ? what are you smoking IGN ? unbelievable.

You can't compare a $15 mini-game with a $60 game.

Killzone is great for its price and so is Plants vs Zombies(although I think it should be $10 now).

Esena4823d ago

You obviously don't know how reviews work do you? You have to compare scores within genres. You can't compare a Plants vs Zombies to Killzone 3. It is just not how it works. You have to review games on their own grounds.

If that was the case... very few PSN/XBLA games would be in competition with any of the good to excellent full retail games.

Kyur4ThePain4823d ago

"You have to compare scores within genres"

BS. I pay with the same money. I don't have "genre money".
They all compete for my entertainment time and money.

kramun4823d ago

You wouldn't be paying the same amount of money for this game as you would KZ3 Kyur. It's compared to other games in the price range.

And genre too, but you can't seem to grasp that fact. So just think of the price factor and don't let your little brain get too confused with the genre thing.

Esena4823d ago

@Kyu

I'm not saying you only buy 9.0s regardless; without reading a review. I'm actually talking about people who read reviews, not those who look at a number and blindly buy a game -- that is called stupidity.

When you read a review for a PSN strategy tower defense game you have to understand that it is being reviewed within that context.

And please don't tell me but but but but that's just your opinion. This is a fact when reading/reviewing/criticizing anything... You judge it within its own context or your opinion isn't sufficient.

ExplosionSauce4823d ago

It's not the same.
If both were full $60 games, then yes you are completely right.
But one of them is a $15 mini-game.

Kyur4ThePain4823d ago

Mm, ok. I'll wait for re-reviews of games when they get sold at discounted prices.
Seems they should all get higher reviews at that time. Hey, maybe we'll get 11/10 reviews.

How a Plants vs. Zombies Game Died so a Star Wars Game Could Live (and Then Also Die)

From IGN: "In the second half of 2016, a small team of developers at PopCap Vancouver were gearing up for a presentation that would determine the future of their team, their project, and potentially an already-beloved franchise: Plants vs. Zombies.

For the past year, they had been working on a brand new Plants vs. Zombies adventure that would take the series in a very different direction. Though they had EA’s blessing for their work to that point, it wasn’t a guarantee the project would ultimately see the light of day, especially given how ambitious it was."
