EB Games bids goodbye

The signs have come down at many of the few remaining EB Games stores last week. Those stores have been rebranded as GameStop stores, the company that purchased EB Games in 2005. Gamers everywhere should prepare to bid a final farewell to EB Games, as the store we know and love appears to be in it's final days.

is it only in US? or all NA?

InMyOpinion3927d ago

EB Games is worldwide, that means outside the US as well. We have them in Sweden too.

In Canada, we have only EB Games and no GameStops. Is GameStop finally taking over here?

crazy just like funcoland.

EB had a great return policy. You could purchase a brand new game, & return it within 7 days for a full refund. Funco Land always had some crazy prices going on. Me personally, I was always partial to Software Etc & EB. I guess since they had lots of PC stuff available, those stores seemed to be more upscale than other stores.

w/e the only thing different up to now has been the name, the stores became the same thing years ago.

Electronics Boutique. I bought my SNES from an Electronics Boutique.

I remember a video game store called Electronic Boutique. I don't know what relation that store had with this one or if that's what it stands for...

EDIT: haha damn, you [email protected] are quick.

so when the law sue gona start coming?when they the only place you can buy games?they all ready 96%..

DeFFeR3927d ago

the "law sue" isn't coming at all. GameStop and EB make up a nice chunk, but nothing close to 96%. Best Buy, Circuit City, Wal-Mart, SamsClub, BJ's, COSTCO, Target, K-Mart, CompUSA, ComputerCitY, Babbages, Toys R Us, KB Toys, Sears, Blockbuster, GameCrazy, all have a nice share of the market. And those are just stores around where I live, there are probably plenty more.

And i'm also pretty sure that I'm forgetting a couple.

Babbages owned by gamestop
and the rest you mention sucked compared to gamestop and EBgames when it came to selling used or rare games.

Infact Bestbuy,Target,Wal-mart, Circuit city,Sams Club BJs, Costco, k-mart,Compusa,Computer City,Toys R Us, KB toys, Sears, Blockbuster, Gamecrazy all have nearly no used games section, or have no used game section at all, Sams club has a crap for game section with usually only 20 titles across all systems *My local sams club and I mean 20 titles as in thats all they carry*

When it comes to a game specific store where all they sell is video games, video game accessries...ect Gamestop now owns something like 95% of the market.
