Bryce of RipTen: On Thursday the 3rd of Februrary, myself and a bunch of high level players from the GamerHold and Couch Warriors organizations were lucky enough to get invited to a THQ closed preview of upcoming fighting blockbuster Marvel v Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds.
With the release of WWE All Stars, THQ are attempting to capture the excitement and atmosphere of a classic arcade game and transport it to the home consoles. Featuring simplified gameplay and over-the-top, in-your-face graphics, the game certainly looks the part, but how does it feel like you are playing an arcade game? Well in order to ensure that it does, MadCatz and THQ decided to team up and manufacture both the arcade style BrawlStick and the fighting game controller, the BrawlPad.
@XG247: We know unboxings are crap, but this one isn’t. It’s got things that are fun and things that you press and things that you wiggle and boxes and all other wonderous delights.
awesome job madcatz. ww3 allstars gets one of these, but not Mortal Kombat? thats ok, i heard the MK stick feels pretty sick for something that isnt Sanwa.
and dont blame that shit on the button layout. if an mk style stick is so different from what madcatz had in mind, then why are they releasing plates for the button alignment to mimic the MK sticks exact design?
A few days ago, PlayDevil got an invitation from THQ to witness their "WWE All Stars Preview Event" in London.
Our reviewer Joseph went and had a hands-on with the full game.
Here's a snippet:
"THQ are keen to reinforce the parallels with arcade fighting games, drafting in official Capcom FightStick manufacturers Mad Catz to create a bespoke BrawlStick and BrawlPad. At first glance, an arcade stick for a wrestling game sounds like indulgent madness, but the outcome is surprisingly effective."
Looks cheap imo. People use fight sticks for wrestling games?
WHY
O-kay...
"For the asking price of $79.99 USD, the WWE Brawl Stick is definitely a viable purchase option for the entry level fighting game user like myself"
Not really . For twice less you could probably pick up a Datel pro stick of the same low quality , with it at least being dual mode ps3/360 (and pc)
for 39.99 you can pick up the street fighter 4 stick which is EXACTLY the same as this one... the only difference is the color/skin...
