Hidden away in Sony's TGS catalog was a shocking revelation: Gran Turismo 5 Prologue's Japanese release date and price.
wtf $43.10????? thats way too expensive i would buy it if its $20
Before some tools cry about it.
Its the same price that GT4 prologue cost, and GT5p has ONLINE.
it could feature the damage system,
who set the pricing ? is it sony or turn 5 ?
thats the beauty of blueray disks right there. so expensive to make they gotta raise the price of demos on them to the price of full games.
SO THE 360 IS MAXED OUT GRAPHICALLY LOL!!!!!! OK SO A CONSOLE WITH A 512MB UNIFIED SHADER ARCHITECTURE NEXTGEN GPU IS MAXED OUT BUT ITS ONLY THE BEGINGING FOR AN OOOOOLD AND LAST GEN 256MB GPU!! WOW THE SONY FANBOYS LOGIC IS GETTING BETTER AN BETTER.
@ruffrider and secret. keep it to the subject and stop flamin. btw ruffrider. the ps3 is made totally different to the 360 so you wouldnt have a hope in hell in knowin which is better. its not a straight foward comparison. early signs shows the ps3 as more potential because of the quality of the earlier games compared to the quality of the early games on the 360. but who knows. i suggest jus keep your fanboyism thoughts to yourself and jus sit back and enjoy your own console.
Everybody today seems to judge whether a title is worth the money by how long it lasts and can keep you entertained for.
How many hours could you get out of this 'demo'?
This is just a rumour. We need FURTHER Evidence.
The price is not even on the picture itself.
No it's True.
If you don't have money to buy one then just save your money and stick to whatever PS3 games you have now.
Sony needs more money to develop new spectacular games like Lair, Heavely Swords, and Warhawk. We hope you understand our crisis. Thanks for the cooperation.
but this demo is better than anything on the 360. so i think it is worth it. edit: yes i have already played it at the gc. and it is the best racer ever! and no its not a demo its a full game.
wtf are u crazy. 40 bucks for a demo. I think im having more fun in the COD4 beta for free than i would in a 40 dllr demo.
....you played it?whats it like?i'm guessing you have played it because you said its better than anything on the 360. I'm not denying the fact that it looks amazing but i think i will wait until i see it being played by people rather than these nicely put together clips or replays
EDIT- on topic....it does seem a bit expensive, its a wait an see, it might be worth it, it might not, too early to tell
Dude you must be still in middle school.
Get used to this...one of the ways Sony will subsidize their "Free" online. Guess what the beta of COD4 cost? NOTHING.
It cost you $50 to play that game ONLINE.. or did you forget?
I actually paid 45 dollars which ensures that I will get ALL my demos for free. No it is actually pretty hypocritical for Sony backers (not all) saying that we shouldn't have to pay for LIVE but at the same time are willing to defend the $40 charge for a demo that should have been free. In the end if you buy the demo and full version you will end up paying $90+ for the same game. The real reason they are doing this is because they are light on headliner games this holiday season and GT won't be fully done until 2008. They put the thing out half done in attempt to try and claim it as another game in their inventory for holiday PR. This should have been a free demo because they should be making all their dev costs back when they sell the final version.
Gee, I paid 0 dollars and 0 cents for the Warhawk beta. What's your point?
If you honestly think this will be a demo then this conversation need not go any further.
Let me simplify the statement...you're going to pay for the same game (or at least 2/3 of it) twice all for the sake of Sony adding one more game to their Xmas list. Tell me that Prologue is not going to be a subset of GT5 Full. Now if Sony would only charge $20 for Prologue owners to upgrade to GT5 Full when it comes out then that is a different story.
IN THE END THEY WILL MAKE THEIR DEVELOPMENT COST BACK ON THE FINAL PRODUCT (GT5 Full)...so you shouldn't have to pay for this.
Now the conversation ends...anything else is a waste of time.
That's got nothing to do with your beta comment. I've never paid for a beta and I've never paid for a demo.
You are right they are milking more money from the consumer but what company doesn't? All of these "special editions" and marketing ploys are just ways to get more money out of the consumer. This is nothing new and Sony certainly isn't the only one who has done it.
Each of the big 3 console makers get you in there own way. We could sit here and go back and forth for hours and not get anywhere. If you think it's a ripoff, don't buy it. I'm not even saying that I think it's right or wrong but don't act like it's some kind of atrocity that's never occurred in gaming history. We get nickle and dimed all the time (whichever console we play).
Thats not that bad a price, this game is being released on disk so that is probably the disk version price. And when you think about it theres more game here than motorstorm. Theres more cars, more modes, major Home intergration and maybe more tracks (i dunno how many tracks there are. And its got way better graphics. So thats a good deal tbh.
And Sony have kept saying this isnt a demo its a full game. and we dont know everything thats gonna be included yet.
im going to buy it. plenty of cars and tracks to constitute a full game, AND its 33% cheaper than any new game out there for the ps3. not too shabby if you think about it.
The only reason it seems so expensive is because it doesnt live up to the full gt5 game, and thats because its a PROLOGUE.
It's more then half the price for less then half the full game. I won't even compare this to motorstorm either. While I LOVE GT, motorstorm is the most intence racing game I've ever played.
I'm just saying it's worth it to ME, and many other people out there as well. I'm anxious to see the graphics on my HDTV and in real-time, so I'm going to buy this game.
I'm not knockin' you. I just don't get paying for less then half of the full game when the full game is coming out within' the year.
BTW .... I did not disagree with you.
I understand. sorry if I came off a bit defensive, though.
The price is a little high true. $25 or $30 at most would have been more appropriate. But with all of its content calling prologue a demo is pretty unfair.
If the game turns out to be as good as the last ones with the added features like some damage. I think it might be worth it. So far i am very impressed with the graphics. One think i think is a good idea for the PS3 is downloading games off PSN. Did they leave out bikes?
I think the title should be most expensive demo so far
There is meant to be a demo late October and then the release of the game a few weeks later. Are they charging us for the demo, or the game, or both?
If they are charging for a simple demo, then tell them to stick their Yens up their...
Its not a demo. Its a complete game. But, well, they say its a "prologue" of things to come. None the less, all features of a complete game are there. There is most likely a free "demo" as well.
This is pricing for GT Prologue. The demo for GT prologue is free though.
People seem to missing the point that this is not a demo.
GT is just an itch they HAVE to scratch.
Does anyone know the music that was played during the video
43 dollars? are they having a laugh? only an idiot would allow themselves to get conned like this. Then you have to spend 60 dollars for the full version of the game.
Just wait for the full version to come out.
Bend over and grease yourselves up sony boys.
that most "sony boys" will be buying this game, think again. The only people buying the prolouge will be hardcore GT fans. GTIV also had a prolouge that was priced similarly .
with a price like this, the full game isn't coming out for a while.
really brings out the false pride in non PS3 owners
For one thing i will pay 50bucks for this game and like most racing games online i will use 4-5 cars max! So your not paying for the GT5 massive car lot your paying for GT online 16ppl.
One more thing! You wont see the full version GT5 till next christmas if that. Its not like they pump these games out like EA and Madden or everything else sports. The guys that do GT are really fans of cars and it takes time and lots of effort to make all the sounds, specs, graphics come out perfect.
I'll be one of the guys that gets this game day one! I will race clean and i will enjoy myself.
still waiting for the official announcement
The people claiming we're "being conned" are going to be missing out on a great game come this Christmas.
im just gonna wait for the real GT5
Don't think it will cost that much in the US. After all, Japanese games cost a hell of a lot more than the US. Hell, a DS game in Japan could ring you up $50.
I'm assuming that's how much it costs THEM to make the game...
...I'm not paying that for a racing game...no matter HOW GOOD it looks.
Thats the beauty of blueray disks right there. so expensive to make they gotta raise the price of demos on them to the price of full games.
if true- this is crazy. i wouldn't pay. what happened to demos being free? i'll wait for the final game. this is a bunch of crap.
It's not a demo. Besides, what do you call the Demo of GT:5 Prologue? The Prologue to the Demo? =P Come on, this is the exact same price as GT:4 prologue, and actually offers more content AND a full online community and multiplayer network. GT5 isn't going to be released until December 2008.
get 1 thing straight.
GT5 prologue is NOT just a DEMO.
Heavenly Sword Demo was a DEMO.
Skate Demo was a DEMO.
GT5 Prologue is NOT a DEMO.
GT5 prologue = DEMO
GT5 = FULL GAME
if DEMONSTRATION is a DEMO than sure it`s a DEMO.
but DEMOs don`t have multiple tracks and Online and Multiple cars and come on DISC.
i guess GeoW was a DEMO. (for the haters)
they gave GT vision for free on the PSN, does that count for anything.
they have worked SO hard on this game if i`m going to pay for A MASSIVE MASSIVE "demo" than it would be for this game.
GT5 is the GODSEND of racing games.
demos do have multiple tracks and online. look at halo 3 beta. multiple levels.. online.. and it came on a disk (with crackdown LOLOLOL)
Neither is it a full game. Boy you PS3 fanboys are always tring to cover up the B.S. with Sony. If this was the 360 charging this rate for a demo you would be all over it. Nothing with demo in it should be $43 point blank.
its a way of paying for psn im out
thats what i`m saying if these FOOLS want to call THIS a "DEMO"
I wish Gran Turismo 5 was coming this year. That could certainly be a PS3's killer app. Or close to it.
Gran Turismo is one of the best selling franchises.
As i feared, same price as GT4:Prologue. Seems there are enough that will pay that price for it, count me out though. I will wait for GT5 and skip Prologue, like i did with GT4:Prologue.
So its the GT5 'light' this year, and the full version Q4 08? Seems likely considering the amount of delay every GT version had to date.
1. An introduction or preface, especially a poem recited to introduce a play 2. An introduction or introductory chapter, as to a novel.
3. An introductory act, event, or period.
1. A demonstration, as of a product or service.
2. A brief tape or recording illustrating the abilities of a musician or other performer.
3. A product, such as an automobile, used for demonstration and often sold later at a discount.
no matter how you spin it..its a DEMO.
agreed did you use that from my past posts in prologue articles? cause i constantly use that proof to prove the game is a demo...
great minds think alike maybe...i just dont like when people try and dispute that this isnt a demo...its absurd. defend your console all you want but when people have a brain you cant spin nothing.
Is a game like this worth the money, Demo, Prologue, whatever, the answer is yes.
I would gladly pay $100 dollars for the complete game because in my opinion it's worth it. but instead to make it fair they decided to only charge $43 dollars for the Prologue.
-that's really not that expensive, look at what you get -the game runs at 1080p at 60fps. I don't know what more you could want, but they even gave you 16 cars on screen at the same time, people look at the graphics... seriously, the prologue is a complete game all on it's own almost. One car takes 2 months to render. And the graphics are stunning. It's surely worth $43 dollars.
Then add the complete game which is to follow and you will have what is indeed, true next gen video gaming. And a truly incredible gaming experience.
If you feel it's not worth it you can choose to skip the prologue and just get the game when it comes out, but why you would do that only heaven knows. This is the best looking graphics I've ever seen on a racing game. So truth be told it has to cost something.
umm yeah...it would be a good deal if you only had to pay 10 bux for the full game when its released....but it wont, when the full game is released you'll have to pay the full price...atleast ive heard nothing to the contrary.
yeah its more than a demo but less than a full game. usually demos are like from 10 - 40 min. this is basically a big preview.
I don't know about you guys but I would rather pay $49.99 for a full year Gold membership on Live with Free demos heck we even get free demos with the free Silver membership. Wow $43.00 for a demo. What a ripoff. YYEEEYYYYYY SONY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
But in my opinion this is a game. I don't know why it is taking PF so long to produce this game but you have to wait. You can either buy this game and fund GT5's production or wait. If you like the game then buy GTP. This is the new gaming business.
Didn't I already do that with Warhawk?
I'll wait for GT5.
The people who payed $600 for a PS3 won't have any second thoughts on paying $40 for a demo.
no way. im not buying that. ill wait for the full game
