"today's release of Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 on PSN contains the same DRM used by Final Fight Double Impact." You know the one that forced you to be logged into PSN to play... so if your internet goes down, no BCR2 for you.
Capcom = Japanese Ubisoft
Couldn't say it better myself.
... I play on consoles instead of the PC because I want to AVOID all this hassle with DRM-crap and passwords and whatever. Oh well... I hope they'll notice it in their sales.
Idiotic decisions are synonymous with Capcom nowadays. I bought Final Fight without knowing about this BS, and I won't be making that mistake again. Too bad, but your loss Capcom. And don't you dare bitch or make excuses if this sells poorly.
That's exactly what I was thinking lol. This is seriously stupid. Maybe I can side with them a very slight bit when they do this to computer games, because most computers are more-or-less connected to the internet 24/7. It's still wrong to do that, but it's easier to defend it for the PC than it is for the consoles. I don't know about all of you, but sometimes I like to disconnect my consoles from the internet so I can enjoy my games in peace and quiet, without people contacting me, worrying about downloading 2 GB updates, and basically... just playing as a lone wolf. Forcing us to have internet connectivity is codswallop, and it's probably the biggest reason for me not wanting to pick this up now.
No, Capcom's actually worse because they're applying it to a console. At least Ubisoft had an excuse with PCs.
Speaking of which, AC2 just came to the PSN Store. Maybe that version might have DRM this time... XD
Asses. There's no reason for this.
yeah that shit pissed me off with Final Fight. I remember letting a friend sign on my account on his ps3 and when he downloaded it and switched to his account it locked us both out for 24 hours. I would love to play with a friend rather than some random person......
Wow. I hope gamers unite to attack Capcom on this. If they think this should be the norm, they are so wrong.
Indeed. Let's hope they don't do this for any future Mega Man games. :(
@littletad Gamers are retards...PC gamers clsimed to be boycotting MW2... MW2 on pc outsold COD4's lifetime PC sales in the first week... Gamers never boycott, when it's their parents money they have no concept of worth and so they just buy anything, no matter the cost or restrictions.
requiring online for a local only co-op game if just plain dumb.
Good thing I stopped playing games from Crapcom this gen.
stop stealing games you pirate pieces of shit...hmmmm yes..
So rip-off DLC/disc unlocks in your games, and now DRM. Stay classy, Capcom.
Omg, not again Capcom. This is like that Elder Scrolls Oblivion DLC garbage from years ago on the 360. Internet goes out and the level disappears from under your feet. I regret buying Final Fight last year because of this, just on principle. Developers and publishers that force you to be online to play offline and lock save files are pricks. I abhor buying stuff I don't own. They blame it on the potential of trading. Well geniuses, what about disc based games? Those can still be traded, rented and bought/sold used. You gonna lock disc based games to one console too? Shoot, maybe I shouldn't give them any ideas. :o
Speaking of locking disc-based games to one console, I think I heard something of that sort with Ninja Gaiden Sigma on the PS3. I could be wrong, though. Something to do with you needing the game disc on the console you played it on, or something.
You're correct on you being wrong, I have Ninja Gaiden Sigma 1 and 2 both used and they both worked for me. On topic: Too bad for you Capcom, I was thinking of picking this up. Now I'm not. -1 sell, and every agree adds +1 negative sell to that number.
You know what I'm thinking of? I think it had to do with the save file. I think that's what I was thinking about. With the first Ninja Gaiden Sigma (not sure on the second game), you could not use a save file for any other disc but the one you saved with. They might have changed that, though, but after reading into it a bit more, that's definitely what I was thinking of.
NGS was tied to the console, it wasn't copy locked, but if you tried to copy the save to any other console it wouldn't work. :)
Meh. I am always connected to the PSN when I am playing anyway.
I don't see an issue with this..
If the PSN goes down for maintenance, firmware patches, unexpected 8001050F type errors, or your local IP goes down for whatever reason...you'll get locked out. Capcom is the only publisher afaik that's done this since the last time they did it in April 2010 for Final Fight. It's like, what's the point? I can download Final Fight from the PS Store as part of the Capcom Collection for my PSP without any such locks, and the PSP has been hacked for years.
None of those scenarios are really an issue for me. Firmware patches generally come in the middle of the night, and since I became a PS+ subscriber now get downloaded automatically in the middle of the night. Maintenance generally happens in the middle of my work day. I don't think I have ever encountered an 8001050F error. Also, I can count on one hand the number of times my ISP has gone down in the last 2 years.
That's ridiculous! How can they even be sure a PS3 is hooked up to the internet to play a downloadab- oh... I see. Eh, carry on. As long as it actually works and doesn't crash your game, no big deal
Forcing us to play a game online that has no online multiplayer. You would think Capcom learned their lesson from Final Fight. Fool me once Capcom, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.
please dont support nonsense like this.
I was about to buy this because I loved rearmed. The first review made me wait and now this... I hope this title doesn't sell much at all.
I didn't even know this was in Final Fight. I just played it.
Aw that really sucks... Question though. Do you just have to be online, or do you have to go online, and then the game contacts Capcom servers? because one day, Capcom won't support the game, and you'll have purchased something which becomes unplayable... Might be in something like 20 years... but you still don't own the game, if it works like that. :( Looks like i'ma pass it up anyway though. Unfortunately... damn, really wanted to play it.
Your lose Capcom, didn't buy Final Fight for this reason and won't be buying this either.
I hate that, so i'm probably going to download this game and play it for free. :p
I bought this game last night and I didn't have any problems yet.
Congrats Capcom! You just killed Rearmed 2. This is gonna sink sales for PS3 version after people find out. I'll play on PC. It is coming to PC right?
