EU PSBlog: Hello everyone. Today I’m here to talk to you a little bit about PSone Classics – what it takes to get a PSone game from disc to the Store, the problems we face in doing so and what we’re doing to get more games to you guys.
Nice article. I wonder when Xenogears is coming out.
More than likely never as it was never originally released in Europe. The process would take even longer than mentioned in the article.
download from the us store problem solved
Didn't they say that Xenogears and what Vagrant story is coming out soon. Has to be past most of this process for them to mention it.
Glad I know what the process is now. Thanks Sony. :)
"Oh, and we’re re-releasing Crash Bandicoot 2 on Wednesday. Yay!" Finaly! My favorite of the series!
Sad that Europe lost Silent Hill due to probably some obscure licensing issue. It was a true PS1 classic. They should get that license.
You'd think all that would be obvious but some people refuse to see or believe the obstacles. This reinforces the obsolescence of region-locks and regional licensing in the 21st century. Though in most media, it's not likely to end any time soon. At the very least, we should support anyone who opts for region-free media.
Awesome news! Thanks Sony!
Well I hope that answered some questions. Homebrew is illegal therefore you can usually find all the titles you want, because they dont have to go through all these legal procedures.
You can also stick any legal PS1 disc you have in a PS3 without CFW or any other horsesh*t. So that's an even better solution. I have an old "case of beer" size box full of PS1 games in their original jewel cases (some are even in those huge old original oversized boxes). Life is good.
Cool article, thanks muchly for the link. I'm hoping the likes of Xenogears and Parasite Eve, which I've never played, will get here sooner rather than later. Also, fingers crossed that the red tape surrounding Alundra gets sorted too.
Well Iknew it wasnt easy putting PS1 games but I must say that PS1 classics on the store is almost useless now because I recently went to a store that old games. They have a good selection of PS1 games. My 1st visit I bought Driver and WCW Vs World for $2.95 each.( bought WCW/NWO Revenge for $0.95). I always thought Driver would be a good PS1 classic on the PSN and I would of bought it instantly. The real advantage of PS1 classics is PSP compatible. This brings me to PS2. If Sony ever released PS2 classics on PSN it will harder. the library of games had a wide range of license material so the PS2 classic will be lessed than PS1"s
I just want someone to release Saturn games on PSN or Live Arcade. Is that too much to ask for?
saturn could be possible but in regards to Live Arcades, do u mean you wish they was just ported from 360 onto PS3.
great :), now I wish that Tekken 3 and Gran Turismo 2 could hit the store.
This is going to sound like a weird question..but I'll ask it anyway. Concerning region locks or what not. I bought Solomon Kane on Blue-Ray...its locked to Europe or something like that. Apparently I can't play it on my PS3..yes I know noob mistake. My question is I thought there were no locks on PS3s meaning they could play a blue-ray from any region. Now obviously I'm wrong, I just want to know what part I misunderstood. Can anyone help me with this. Also lol is there anyway that I can watch this Blue ray as I don't think they have an american version. Suggestions?
Some BR movies are region-locked, others aren't. Simple as that. Apparently, you can easily play most of Japan's BR movies on the EU PS3, for instance.
