Collectors Editions - Are They Worth It? | Mad Overdose writes: It’s no secret that game companies will do anything to make an extra buck when it comes to selling their games, whether making that extra buck reflects back on their product positively or negatively. An example of this is the idea of Collector’s Editions. Also known as Limited or Special Editions. We’re going to take a look back at some of the games that have done them right, done them wrong, and all of the factors that go into it, from customer interest and whether or not the content included is really worth the extra money.

Highly biased (language to the effect of "Modern Warfare 2 wasn't worth $60") and riddled with technical errors, but it's worth a read for making you really *look* at what you're getting with a Collector's Edition.

Well it wasn't. A good game, don't get me wrong, but there have been better CoD games.
(Thank you for the feedback by the way)

I'm just saying, you alone cannot determine its worth to everyone. It might not have been worth $60 to you, but there are people like me who got much enjoyment out of it.

I personally enjoyed the single player mode. The story made no sense, but I was always having fun; never a dull moment. My experience was with the LAN mode, where I had dozens of hours of enjoyment with friends.

Every collectors edition should be weighed up on it's own merits.

For example, the US LBP2 collectors edition looked great and worth the extra money. But the European was so poor I just went for the normal version (although it did come with codes for Jak and Daxter outfits).

In most cases Collectors Editions are pointless to me. But for those who like that sort of thing, then choice is good.

It it comes with a hardcase instead of the normal plastic case. What can I say, I'm a sucker for that!
