Blog claims NGP plays PS3 games remotely

Will the NGP be able to play PS3 games remotely via WiFi? Apparently so, if a blog post by a GAME employee is to be believed.

According to the blog, a Sony rep stopped by GAME to discuss the NGP and revealed a number of features, the most interesting of which being PS3 remote play.

thats a huge feature that wasnt mentioned. maybe a gdc/e3 reveal. but its a blog and the website is dubious at best.

DualConsoleOwner2875d ago

PSP alread has this "remote play" function.

but it has limited compatibility.

maybe NGP will make all games be compatible to remote play.

badz1492875d ago

I'm sick of only a few games supported the remote play on the PSP and here's hoping for the NGP to have it for all games!

Corepred42875d ago

i am excited for this but was a little skeptical about getting one. but if it really does have all ps3 games that you can play remotely, i'm getting one for sure!

darkdoom30002875d ago

PSP can already do it with some games, a hacked PS3 allows compatibility with all games. :|

Cheeseknight282875d ago

There is absolutely no way this is true, because if it had that kind of functionality they WOULD have announced it at the reveal of the handheld.

People might say "they were saving it for a later reveal" but this is the kind of technology they would have tauted immediately, it'd be too good of buzz to not spring on.

" .uk" as the original source? Gimme a break.

ProGrasTiNation2875d ago (Edited 2875d ago )

My friend you would be shocked, the PSP homebrew scene had this feature working on a lot of ps3 games, its was the poor wireless card that hampered it.If the PsP2 couldnt do this then i would be shocked,Sony listened to the homebrew scene when they build that NGP

"Blog claims that bigfoot is real"

Whoopie! Time to get excited! It might be real! Bigfoot is just waiting for E3 for a "big reveal"

PSP could already do remote play... but I think Lair was the only compatible game.

badz1492875d ago

I've played LEGO Batman demo via Remote play before. I can't try it now though, my PSP is broken - another great excuse to get NGP day 1! :P

ChronoJoe2874d ago

Lego Games
PixelJunk Monsters

None of them are really, playable though. Even 3 feet away it adds like half a second latency which ruins the game. Particularly blazblue.

SnakeMustDie2875d ago (Edited 2875d ago )

Yeah, PSP already had RemotePlay. The problem is that it lacked the horsepower and dev support to be successful. Just like I stated before on the other articles.

If Sony somehow manages to improve RemotePlay between NGP and PS3 by allowing NGP to play games that are running on the PS3, It will turn many PS3 owners to buy a NGP and possibly this can be a selling feature for the handheld. Crossplay and RemotePlay between NGP and PS3 is one of the requirements for the success of NGP.

ULTIMATE_REVENGE2875d ago (Edited 2875d ago )

Kaz Hirari confirmed that the model shown at the PS Meeting was still in prototype form, and that they're still adding and changing the NGP.

That's why a lot of specific details like RAM and battery life haven't been revealed.

ShinFuYux2875d ago

According to Wikipedia, Sony is also a company that manufactures new battery technology, so in other words, they invent batteries. So, I wouldn't worry about Battery life, a year ago, they were more concerned about over heating issues than anything else.

So, if anything, they already have the over heating and battery issues pretty much fixed. They're just tinkering the bugs out and seeing what else they can do with it.

Never believe in Wikipedia.

StbI9902875d ago (Edited 2875d ago )

Like saying, never believe in the internet, just because the info on wikipedia is written by users, doesn't mean anything, since the whole internet and its databas is also managed by PEOPLE.

What makes any other source more reliable than wikipedia?that is obviously quoting most if not all of its info from the web itself".

Point to be pointed, wikipedia is as reliable as the internet can get plus the sources links placed at the bottom if you are that dubious.

darkdoom30002875d ago

Ram is irrelevant. The PS3 is running the game. All the PSP is doing is reciving a video signal, and sending button inputs.

A PSP can already do it. A NGP would definetly have it.

DA_SHREDDER2875d ago

There is no way if there isn't any L3 and R3 buttons. Nothing could ever come close.

ULTIMATE_REVENGE2875d ago (Edited 2875d ago )

Ummm the two Analogue sticks are the L3 & R3 buttons, and you could just map the L2 & R2 buttons to the back touch pad, and since it's capacitive touch it will respond pretty fast without any delay.

SnakeMustDie2875d ago (Edited 2875d ago )

I knew it. It will definitely be a selling feature. I won't get excited though until Sony themselves announce it. RemotePlay is one of the things that can make NGP superior to 3DS because it is a "bang for your buck" kind of feature.

Playing UC3 on the go. I can already imagine it.
