Minor Xbox 360 System Update

Today the team is releasing a minor system update via Xbox Live. Over the next few hours, when you sign in to Xbox Live, you'll receive a prompt to accept this mandatory update. What's in this update? Much like the update last month, the only thing this minor release will do is prepare your Xbox 360 for the Big Button Pad that is being released this holiday.

or is this another one of those "we don't want you to know that this is a system update specifically coded to make the fans of your 360 spin faster when playing Halo3 to help reduce it from overheating after playing for 8 hours straight"

the last update they had that they claimed was to prepare the console for a game update (the wireless guitar for guitar hero), it ended up actually changing the fan speed on the consoles. i thought it was some stupid rumor until i got home, listened to my fan, updated, turned the console back on and the fan was spinning alot faster. call me crazy, but a game update should not have to be a MANDATORY system-wide update...makes ZERO sense.....

so i get home from a long days work, and crank on the 360 to rip some aggression off in skate, when i sign in, i am prompted for the update, and click ok, well a few seconds later, my 360 frags with the 3 red lights, and now has to be shipped to MS.... so be watch out it may do the same to yours....

anyone else get zapped with problems, I think i'll wait a while before I turn my 360 back on.

I need to hear a lot more people say it's fine before I do it, because this is no time to be out of the call of duty 4 beta, that thing is so amazing I've been playing day and night.

I just got an fifth 360 in less than a year, BTW...and the damn thing sounds like a jet engine...with a bird caught in it. Seriously, it rattles for about ten minutes after inserting a game, then calms down.

So excuse me if I'm a little apprehensive about downloading this update.

BTW, forgive my ignorance for not knowing--I guess I missed something somewhere--but what is the "Big Button Pad?"

HyperBear3836d ago (Edited 3836d ago )

Now im not sure about it, but im pretty sure its an update that will allow users who buy "Scene It" for Xbox 360 to be able to use the big red button controller, it comes with 4 bundled with the game, so people can automatically start playing it, without having to wait for an update. At least i think thats what it is, but im not sure. Its the only thing thats Big Red Button and comes out this Holiday that i can think of.

Also, anyone else notice that this update also has Halo 3 coded stuff on it. I mean it might be just my server or something but every Xbox Live ad i got to always has, "Watch the Believe trailer now", and also, it has updates of TGS demos and trailers on Marketplace, As well as a Brand New Halo 3 ViDoc entitled "Cinema Parasido". So It may sound like a small update, but its got a lot of new stuff on Live MarketPlace.

Hope that helps you, possibly.

I have an elite....and its no louder then my ps3 or my computer with 10 fans in it....its quiet as hell maybe you got the super elite version....

How much "stealth" has gone into these last two updates to "update" Live's ability to detect pirated Halo 3 copies?... Or any pirated games for that matter... I know the battle rages on between the pirates and Microsoft and by putting it in these "updates" quietly, and have it go active on launch day, it won't give hackers time to get new firmware to play their pirated games at launch...

Just a thought, but if I were MS, I'd do the same...

goodganja3836d ago

Microsoft needs to focus on upgrading the firmware and the XBox Dashboards rather than preparing themselves for one big button. PS3 owns XBOX because they listen to consumers and put out firmware upgrades weekly. Sony shows they care more about the consumer. Microsoft has your money, they dont care so they will install bricks to your system.

November 23, 2008 will be doomsday for all XBOX owners who still has a working one from launch. Microsoft will probably send an upgrade to brick systems and make owners pay for it to be refurbished.

WilliamRLBaker3836d ago

wow you just invalidated your entire comment with the last line.

then again your comment was crap to begin with, SOny listens to its customers? last I checked they released the ps3 then released an update that let you get

Last I checked they released updates weekly cause they leave out functions in updates and left stuff out when they first released it.

Last I checked quite a few ps3 updates we're minor and pretty much did nothing.

So now the PS3 "just wait" argument has a date. Watch out. 1 year, 2 months, and counting...
