It's not usual that the mere announcement of a sequel causes such controversy, but one GameCentral reader is adamant that Final Fantasy XIII-2 is good idea.
Defending FF13-2....Oh... <Clicks Link> Oh it's Metro, never mind ¬¬ Anyway it's a marmite game. You etheir love it or hate it, but the point is why do a sequel to the worst FF game. I know most people hate my fav FF game, FF8, but I'd rather have a sequel to that....because lets face it one of the main reasons people hated that was because it wasn't FF7
That doesn't mean it shouldn't be made. I personally enjoyed FFXIII alot and I really liked the characters (not Hope or Snow). Was it linear? yes. Was it more action adventure rather than JRPG? yes. But that doesn't mean it was a bad game. If FFXIII-2 is as long as the first then I'll definitely be picking it up.
Yeah but it's basicaly focusing on one side of the audience, the ones who actually liked FF13. What about the ones who never finished, bought or didn't like FF13....it just seems a tad unfair when they could of got started on FF15 and then it would appeal to everyone.
Yes... FFVIII was underrated. I love the fact that the Junction system let you do so much, however when I first played it it was overbearing to my 7 year old self lol
Paying ANOTHER $60 for the deleted content... no defense allowed.
For your logic no sequels would be ever made. BTW XIII-2 doesnt use any of that mythologic "cut content", because its set on a different universe, and all those locations from XIII no longer exist but gran pulse.
I never understand why people hate ff13. It's a great game and I loved all 50 hours of it. Even the grinding. IMO I believe some people are pissed that's it's on xbox 360. It wouldn't surprise me.
I'm kind of looking forward to it, as long as the rest of the cast is not in it.
depending how ffvs13 turns, it may be my last ff and for me SE is dead.
Add a few towns, a darker story (that we can actually follow), and hey...you got a purchase from me.
I wouldn't mind a new XIII-2 they can pull it off well. The linearity and the characters of the original were shit though. Also get rid of auto-battle. Still think vXIII looks to be a more promising Final Fantasy.
I didn't know there was any controversy surrounding the announcement of FFXIII-2. It was rumored to be an upcoming title for quite awhile and at least SE didn't announce it as a PS3 or XBox360 exclusive and then change their mind like they have with their previous games. Honesty and evidence of commitment to making better games is what will get SE back on track, and as long as FFXIII-2 looks like a promising title and FFvsXIII continues to attract attention people will be willing to give them another chance. I for one am looking forward to what XIII-2 has to offer.
As I've said before, FFXIII was a good game, but it just wasn't as good as it could have been, had Square-Enix been focused on this game and if it was a PS3 exclusive that took full advantage of the hardware. The combat system was good, but I'd have preffered the combat system that I saw in the 2006 trailer, that looked awesome. Do I want a XIII-2? yes, but I'm going to have to finish XIII first (I only got up to chapter 12).
FF13 blows. And so will this one.
