360 titles need to release on PC

Despite this fine looking year of gaming there seems to be one thing that keeps nagging at me, something that I feel is wasted potential. What i'm talking about is all those amazing 360 games that sadly, wont venture over to the PC market.

Um... probably they not making games for the PC because of piracy. They would just lose out on money and it be a complete waste of time and resources.

Nope that is not the reason why Microsoft keeps games off the PC I really wish people would do a bit of reading before making falsehoods like this.

Microsoft has already STATED why they keep their games off the PC :-

"If we launch a game that is on 360 and PC simultaneously, we basically shoot ourselves in the foot by allowing the German market to choose to play the PC version -- because they are more likely to buy that than spend their money on the Xbox 360."

"The PC has a much wider use, it's so established, it's so dominating already so in some territories we need to make the games for the 360 to increase the sales there."

That is why Microsoft holds games off the PC the simple answer is if you give people the choice between the 360 version or the PC version then in some key territories people will choose the PC version.

That makes sense when the game is new or even a year old, but as these games get older, they're not going to be "system sellers". I don't see any reason why they can't put their games on GFWL as they get older. I would never buy a 360 to play Halo 3 here in January 2011, but I would buy it if it were available on GFWL On Demand, and then they would continue to make money on that game. Besides, it just seems stupid to me, that a company like MS would ignore an entire segment of the gaming industry. Steam is showing MS how its done, and by the time MS wakes up to the PC gaming industry, its going to be too late.

It also makes sense to never let the games come to the PC. This has been part of MS's problem people have been saying "why buy the 360 version when the PC version will come out sooner or later and it will be cheaper and better ?".

The only way they can combat that is to ensure titles do not get released on the PC ever. Basically saying "if you want to play this game you have to buy an xbox 360".

It isn't just MS that does this, Sony does it too, you say "it just seems stupid that a company like MS would ignore an entire segment of the gaming industry" well Sony does it too and so does Nintendo. Both Sony and Nintendo work on the principle of giving you experiences you can only get on their console so you have to buy their console, Microsoft is slowly catching on to this now.

It is already too late for MS with PC gaming, there is absolutely nothing MS can do now that will make PC gamers take MS seriously with regards to PC gaming. It is gratifying to see that PC gaming is STEAMing ahead (pun intended) without Microsoft.

It seems they are damned if they do and damned if they don't.

When they release games on both the 360 and the PC then little fanboys cry that the 360 sucks because it doesn't have enough games that are only on the 360 and not the PC.

Only fanboys care about that kind of crap.
All a normal person cares about is what is available to play on their console. I doubt most 360 owners care very much if some of the games can also be played on the PC.

I think Microsoft has done a fairly good job balancing the different concerns. Some of their games they release on the PC, but others they make for only the 360. It's just the way it is. Microsoft has one foot in the console market and one foot in the PC gaming market.

Well said charmers. I don't mind too much about fable, gears, or halo being 360. Just wish they'd let lionhead do a black & white 3. Peter m. Has been expressing his love for the pc but m$ has him caged.

Most console games are on PC and are just poorly ported over and therefore not played.
