Nostalgia and the long development time appear to have generated a lot of buzz for Duke Nukem Forever
It's getting plenty of hype online, but I'm calling it now - this game will be one of 2011's biggest disappointments.
i agree with u , altho i would really like to be proven wrong and that it gets good reviews
So why do people want this game to fail? Gearbox has the development reins, they are pretty good.
I love how they blur our the ass on the dancing girl and they you see "We're fucking bringing it"! LOL
Its obviously gonna be an instant classic. /s
dude. did you watch this trailer? i thought this game was gonna be crap after watching those really old cam vids....but now im gonna keep an eye on it
I watched the trailer and loved it, but I think he means it will be one of the biggest disappointments because of how long it's taking to make. Just look at the reviews for Alan Wake, Splinter Cell Conviction and GT5, many reviews kept bringing up the "After 5 years" comment. Trust me, when the reviews for this game hit you will be seeing tons of headlines labeled "Was 12 years worth it", "After a long 12 years how does DNF shape up", etc. EDIT:@Raendom - I doubt it will show 12 years worth of quality, to my knowledge no such game exist, but I don't doubt Gearbox. I think DNF will turn out great.
@Phenix.... I dunno if this really counts as a FFXIII type of let-down. It shouldn't REALLY show 11 years worth of quality imo, if it's a 2 year polished game... That's just fine. Would be nice for Duke to destroy CoD and become the next big thing (but I doubt it).
I dont think you are going to hear the "more than 5 years" comment so much for the reviews for this game for a couple of reasons. 1. The game continuously pokes fun at its long development cycle. As long it doesn't do it too much, it should provide a few chuckles and 2. development on the game actually stopped and then switched developers, none of that happened with the other games mentioned. Ever since Borderlands I think Gearbox found their calling in making light-hearted, humorous games, and based on the trailers I don't think Duke could be in better hands.
wow.. that was really lame. it took them 12 years to bring it... no wonder the graphics look pre-historic.
I wouldnt go that far, im hoping there will be a demo though
They honestly don't look that bad, sure they're not the greatest but they're not bad either. Graphics don't mean everything in a game, Gearbox did amazing work with Borderlands and I have faith they will deliver another great game just like they did with Borderlands. EDIT: @hennessey86 There's going to be a demo, if you bought the Borderlands GOTY Edition you get early access, but it will still be available to everyone at one point.
of course, i was exaggerating. but it certainly looks like PS2/Wii game. AND MODS... can you rectify "nix replied to your...." alert. i certainly don't want an alert for my own reply. thanks.
No again. Sometimes I wonder if people forget what PS2/Wii games look like. DNF Demo Build http://ps3media.ign.com/ps3... MGS3 Full Game http://www.gameland.ru/post... You're going to tell me those have the same level of graphics? That was just being nice enough to use a game with good graphics on PS2 like MGS. If I would have used GTA or something it would be even worse.
@Phenix_Rising They look the same to me! ;) LOL Seriously though while might not be pushing the graphical edge it's not terrible by any means.
phoenix_rising (by the way you got your spelling wrong), i was talking in general. @bpmurr: i swear. EDIT: ok... i phenix is correct. as phenix sent me a mail with a link. q;
I agree, I was dissapointed by the ugly graphics, the game looks like a low budget crap
To be fair Gearbox is not known for their graphical prowess.
After all this waiting, most people probably watched the trailer just to make sure it was real.
No, just no. How the he'll can you say duke is better than everything, there have been far better game franchises that have released since this series that are more intelligent and less sexist and stupid. Duke nukem is an old relic that needs to adjust to new gaming life or just die all together. I love gearbox, but I will not be expecting anything but rehashed crap from this game.
He's just paying respects. I'm sure that most would agree that there is probably better gaming franchises. It's like saying Voltron is the best cartoon ever because of the memories though when you look at it today...well...nvm...it was the best! lol
lol... i just watched it... pretty funny trailer... looks like it will be a good enough game.. though 12 years in the making... any flaws and people will complain... so .. i think it will be a flop... ill prob get it anyway... jus for the giggles... at least id be able to say i played the game that took forever to make.. Question - Was this game always name Duke Nukem: Forever or was this added when they realised it was taking so long to make
It's been "Forever" since being announced back in the mid to late 90s....check this cover of November 1997 PC Gamer: http://www.3drealms.com/ima...
Gonna be awesome. Am wondering how censored our Australian version will be though lol. Thank god for the ability to import games.
Before now I was thinking this franchise had had it's day and there was no place for it anymore, however watching the trailer did leave me with a smile on my face so may well keep an eye on it
People are complaining about the graphics but they look really good to me. Really good. It's almost like the majority of the people on this thread want this game to fail. Why I wonder. The game most certainly looks better than Black OPS but I hear no one ridiculing that game for graphics...not to mention that the game play is classic FPS stuff. How can you beat that...Duke Nukem is needed in this world of recycled HALO and COD style game play. And I'm not saying those games are bad nor the way they play...but merely saying that variety is, for the most part always a good thing. Hail to the King Baby.
Trailer looks fun. Even if the game reviews badly it will probably sell well. Just out of 14 years of hype and curiosity many will get this...
Duke, many fans and me are waiting for U!! :)
