NerdReactor.com takes a look at the games most likely to receive the ultimate Game of the Year title (as opposed to best rpg of the year etc.). Fourteen games are included.
What Will Be Game of the Year for 2011? I don't know the bloody year just started!!!
You may as well start handing the awards out to Uncharted 3.
Skyrim, Mass Effect 3, Dragon Age 2, Guild Wars 2, The Last Guardian, Project Dark, Diablo 3, The Old Republic, Rage, etc etc etc are all pushing the envelope above and beyond their predecessors, offering more freedom, depth and innovation. What do you get with Uncharted 3? ANOTHER linear 8 hour third person shooter. Don't let your blind fanboyism rob you of some amazing gaming experiences.
Uncharted 3 or Killzone 3
"What Will Be Game of the Year for 2011?" What I decide it will be. Opinions are like buttholes. @AKA- Your comment started out good..then you went the fanboy route with that last statement. Either ur being purposely sarcastic to prove a point or you really believe that you can account for the preferences of 90% of gamers in 2011. @LunaticBrandon- Thats what happens when you get your Bachelors and Masters at N4G.
Uncharted 3 will definitly be a contender for sure. Even though its linear, there is no way to deny that the game's presentation, characters, and story are astounding. Plus, its gameplay is good as well. However, I hope Skyrim takes it because that game is going to be amazing. Dragons FTW!!!
What the hell is Darkfiber rambling about? Missing experiences? This isn't "What is the only game you will play this year?" if I'm reading the title correctly. It's cute that you called someone a fanboy for thinking that Uncharted 3 will be another extremely amazing experience. How do you know that those games, one of which doesn't even have a name yet, will push any envelopes in comparison to Uncharted 3? I know how you know. Because you hate Uncharted. It made you sad somewhere along the line in its cycle of becoming great. That's too bad for you. Edit: My vote goes to Little Big Planet 2. Cupcake hat is the winner.
Uncharted 3 all the way!
It's going to be Uncharted 3 that wins. Just knowing Naughty Dog's track record and its an exclusive so its going to be pushing the PS3 even further more. Darkfiber's argument about it being the same rehash experience doesn't stand because all the games he listed are pretty rehash games other than Last Guardian and maybe Project Dark(we know next to nothing about the game though). Uncharted 3 will outperform all the games he listed out. Uncharted 2 came out in 2009 and still is the best graphical game on console. If Uncharted 2 came out this year it would be a contender. If Agent somehow comes out this year, the advangtage shifts to that game because Rockstar has won 2 GOTYs already with Red Dead and GTA4 this generation, and this being exclusive for PS3 will surely make it GOTY for 2011.
Goty for sure is going to playstation world once again this year if new oblivion doesn't win it. It will be a battle between GODzone 3 GODcharted 3 liitle GOD planet 2 reGODtance ( resistance 3) infamGOD 2. SocGOD ( socom)
I'm going to love KZ3, SOCOM4, inFAMOUS2, RESISTANCE3, U3 and few more but if THE LAST GUARDIAN hit retailers this year THE LAST GUARDIAN will win GOTY for me and 90% of gamers for 2011
90% of gamers? Since when do 90% of gamers even own a PS3?
i don't know,but one thing is sure,ps3 excluisve gonna win 2011,and not only 1,maybe even 3!!!
Does mass effect 2 count for this year? It did come on PS3 in 2011 but it did come out in 2010 on PC and 360 so I guess it could go either way. It will probably be Skyrim since its made by bethesda but a game that looks like it could be GOTY, I will say Uncharted 3, MAss Effect 2(if it counts), mass effect 3, or killzone 3.
Mass Effect 2 is a 2010 game even if it did take a year to come out on the PS3. No one is going to nominate the PS3 version of ME2 for GOTY when ME3 is coming out in the same year.
TSTT - Too Soon To Tell. It's still the first month of the year. I bet there are games that could be released this year that we don't know about. This article is beyond pointless and irrelevant at this time. Talk to me about this in about 6 months.
Lol @ the PS3 fanboys in this article. I don't know if I find them funny or sad.
no game to talk about for GoTY possibilities.
Yes, as everyone knows, I'm the biggest 360 fanboy on this site.
I have a PS3, and I consider only one PS3 game to be a contender of GOTY, and that is LBP2. Yeah, i'm aware of Killzone 3 and Uncharted 3, but those games just does not do it for me, you know, I have high standards.
Lol at calling pandamobile a 360 fanboy. Hes anything but that. Every time someone knocks on my door i half expect to see him there holding a PC and directions on how to log on to Steam.
LBP2 is the front-runner so far :)
It'll surprise the naysayers, but Duke Nukem Forever is gonna have a great chance :) It's gonna be the funnest game of the year
haha, it will at least be the funniest game of the year. " Eat sh*t and DIE!"
Uncharted 3 of course!!!!!!!
Why?? It's just a linear action/adventure game that maybe lasts 10 hours and has a half-assed multiplayer.
Why bother even asking this question right now?
No idea. The years barely started. But I'm hoping Zelda Skyward Sword will be a triumphant return for console Zelda games...maybe even win GoTY. Looks brilliant so far. Maybe my most anticipated game of the year. Enjoying Little Big Planet 2 so far and I expect that to go places. Really though we just can't tell right now.
Uncharted 3 will take it. LittleBigPlanet 2 will take most creative and family game.
Realistically speaking, It will be a between LA Noire, Mass Effect 3, or Deus Ex: Human Revolution, with the dark horse being Uncharted 3. My gut feeling is LA Noire is going to take the cake similar to how Red Dead Redemption surprised everyone last year. Even though it is more linear I believe the interrogation & detective gameplay will really help it stand out from all the others. It definitely screams innovation from everything that I have seen so far. Deus Ex: Human Revolution will come close like Mass Effect 2 last year, based on similar kinds of milestones that game is achieving in interactivity, atmosphere, and gameplay. The issue with Mass Effect 3 and Uncharted 3 is basically surpassing the pinnacles of perfection that both games established with their second iterations. My 2 cents in the jar.
You know, Chaos Striker, it's funny that I recently did an article about L.A. Noire after this goty article, and I didn't even think to add it. Thank you for reminding me. I'll put L.A. Noire in there sometime tonight. L.A. Noire looks like it could help to evolve video games by allowing gamers to understand how characters in games are feeling/reacting to things.
No problemo ;)
If Bioware keep up the good work i think the GOTY of 2011 will go to Mass Effect 3
Well, as I always say, I hope that the so-called GOTY 2011 will be a still unannounced game. Uncharted, Deus Ex, Diablo, Zelda... All these will very likely be true gems, but we already know they are coming (OK, maybe not all this year...) so what I want is something new, fresh and amazing ! These other games will still be there and still be great ! In the same time, 2011 already looks to be so packed with "day 1 purchase" title that another masterpiece might just be too much for my wallet and social life :-P
Don't fool yourselves.. Diablo 3 will be GOTY if it does infact come out this year. Blizzard games always get GOTY.
The PS3 and PC will be loaded with candidates. It's way too early to tell with so many quality titles on the way.
My money is on The Last Guardian! There will be plenty of AAA games in their respective genres but which game will be AAA and leave a lasting impression that will win critics over...There is only one choice...The Last Guardian
All those saying Uncharted 3 and Mass Effect 3...those games have some really stiff competition this year...they won't be running away with any awards like they did in 2009 and 2010 respectively
