Two dark, story-driven RPGs are coming to the PC this spring - but which one should you buy? GameZone has you covered with a look at how these two highly-anticipated titles measure up.
Dragon Age II for me. Or, if you have $100/£80, both.
you can buy both for £50 on PC and they will be better (im getting them both with a discount £45 signiture edit and premium). also i prefer the Witcher but i enjoyed both games.
im getting siginature edition. I got it from GameGears so I got it as the same price as they were selling normal edition.
The Witcher 2 no doubt. The Witcher with it's 3 distinct endings and 5 total endings, mocapped fighting system, a story that didn't rely in just sex in order to be called 'adult', and an incredible presentation is to date the best RPG I have played. The Witcher 2 looks to top all of that in every single way. There isn't any doubt in my mind that The Witcher 2, whose Collector's Edition I have pre-ordered from overseas, is the the RPG next year. Add to this the fact that CDProjekt understands good old fashioned value. Not only is even the basic version of The Witcher 2 packing a wallop of a deal, Djinni will be coming for the The Witcher 2 and look how much FREE material that brought us in the first Witcher.
i'm buying both of these games
witcher is the superior rpg, not much of a DA fan
DAO was better then the Witcher, but The Witcher 2 looks better then DAO 2.
im sorry but DAO is a rip off of The Witcher. The Witcher is superior in every single way to DAO.
Lol you gotta be joking if you think DAO was better then Witcher. Any how Witcher 2 looks far superior to DA2.
After having played both Dragon Age and The Witcher I'd say The Witcher was the better game with the only drawback being the rather simple combat system. I also thought it was better played with a zoomed out camera than the 3rd person style camera.
I prefer The Witcher but I don't know how anyone can say DAO was a rip off of The Witcher :/ This is the same company that made BG1+2, they've been making these kind of games for ages.
DA to me was a HUGE disappoint. I blame EA cause Bioware use to be the best dev at making rpgs. I never played Witcher before but it does look good from what I've seen so I'll give it a try.
the first witcher has couple of hicks, but if you can get past those it's a fantastic game!
I'll be getting both eventually, but I'm more psyched for the Witcher 2
I'll probably get both almost day 1. I enjoyed DA:O more than The Witcher (I couldn't really get into the Witcher's more dated feel, will try again soon). Though The Witcher 2 is currently looking/sounding more impressive than DA2.
Get both games if you can
If both were to be out in the same night,i will first go for DA2 and in the next minute for witcher.
I'm getting both but its no competition. The Witcher 2 will demolish DA2.
Both for me!
Both are great. Witcher 2 looks great so far. Love their dedication on improving everything about it. DA:2, from Bioware, who very rarely disappoints.
This time around Bioware is going after the console market. Not to mention Bioware will be leaning heavily on DLC, which will kill the experience for those like me who refuse to give in to that scam. This limits them severely. CD Projekt on the other hand are going more in-depth and more technical. I'm pretty sure there will also be DLC but not to the point where u don't have a freakin storage chest unless u fork over the cash. (still won't buy witcher 2 DLC) I can't see DA2 standing a chance against The Witcher 2.
I just remember the amazing support the first witcher game got, where the patch added in new missions, music, animations etc... all for free, so the witcher has my money day one, also it is the first time in 5 years that I will upgrade my graphics card, my 8800 has served me well but this game uses that as a minimum where as previous games could use it as a maximum setting card. I really enjoyed dragon age but something about what they have shown of the new one makes me wonder if there is a new focus. So for that game I will wait for feedback. In the end I'm sure both will end up being in my collection.
DA:O was more epic for me. But i don't like where the series is going.
I refuse to pay 60 dollars for a PC game. The Witcher 2 at 45 dollars it is.
DA2? Surely you mean Dragon Effect 2, no? Anyways, DA:2 is basically a linear WRPG with probable dialog loops, shitty combat and no role-playing whatsoever, while The Witcher 2 at least has a CRPG-like approach to different quests and the ways you can complete them, hence the "non-linear" aspect of the game being so important. So, if you ask me? The Witcher 2, it is! ...And Dragon Effect 2 sometimes when a price drop or a supah-mega-all-DLC edition comes around.
For the record, I'll be playing both of these games as well, although I'm playing DA2 on the Xbox 360 so my choices from the first game can carry over. With all of the great RPGs coming out this year, I'm going to be a total shut-in! ;)
just a heads up....only 3 choices carry over I think they're who you left in charge of the kingdom, what happened to you and then one other thing Also, they'll give you 3 different scenarios if you don't import a save so if you want the PC version, it isn't like how ME2 carried thousands (still think they over-exaggerated a lot) of choices carried over
Witcher 2 first. Then Dagron Age.
Yeah the witcher 2 will be awsome they put so much into the game!!! The witcher 2 then DA2.. I'll support the PC exclusives first! if amnesia came out with dead space 2 I would buy amnesia first!
Definitely Dragon Age II for me.
Does this Witcher 2 have a similar world and action as an Elder Scrolls IV : Oblivion or both games are totaly different from each other ?
Wat. They're completely different games made by completely different studios. They have nothing to do with each other.
There is no contest. The Witcher whoch came out in 2007 not only looked better than DA from 2009, but also played 10x better. The Witcher 2 will make DA2 look cheap. I'm buying both but anyone who says DA has not played the witcher.
how can you compare a linear casual RPG-lite interactive fantasy adventure book with The Witcher, an expansive, deep, smart non linear adult RPG ? IT's like comparing chalk and cheese, they're so dissimilar.
the witcher 2 day one!! the first my wife and i played for over 50 hours and never finished, but loved it!! dragon age 2, a few weeks later...bioware can lick my taint if they think they are getting $60 for it, after 2 or 3 weeks i'll grab it for $40 online somewhere
Already pre-ordered both on steam :) Just have to wait now!
"If the concept of "Mass Effect with swords" turns you off" Wow, that felt like an insult. I liked DA:O alot more than the ME franchise. But I guess it was more bcoz of the lore/universe of DA:O. Space marine universe has been done to death. (I'm not saying ME2 wasn't great, it was.. but i just like DA:O over ME2)
