Colin McRae - Life, Times and Gaming

SPOnG's Steve Boxer, a man who likes to race a car himself, was fortunate to interview British motorsport legend, Colin McRae earlier this year. Although the interview itself was supposed to concentrate on the then forthcoming Colin McRae DiRT, Steve could not help delving into the life and times of McRae himself.

"SPOnG is running the following interview in full – including some small mention of the video game – as ours and Steve's tribute to the man who died in such tragic circumstances this weekend"

At first I wasn't sure why this news makes me feel so sad. I loved the CMR games since I got 04 on my Xbox and realized how much more realistic is was that Ralisport Challenge, I even started watching WRC events on speed until they stopped showing them in the U.S. My car is a Mitsubishi Lancer Ralliart edition, and I love it, so looking back at why I bought that car, how much I enjoyed playing DiRT, and my relatively new-found love for motorsports in general, I realized that it all goes back to Colin McRae and the game(s) that bear his name. So rest in peace, Colin-- your games and racing acheivements will carry your name through history.
