3DS to give industry euphoric high

3DS like an injection of positivity
The imminent launch of 3DS (February in Japan, March in the EU and US) provides some post Christmas cheer, many hope it will boost the Games Industry in 2011. Recent figures from GfK Chart-Track reported the UK games market contracting 13% year-on-year in 2010. This is down 29% since the boom of 2008.

Damn thing is going to be expensive, though...around $250. I also saw an article stating that the games will also be expensive, nearly as much as full console games. I don't really have a need for a handheld, especially one that costs so much. It will probably do well, though. Like the Kinect, the hype for the thing has been astronomical.

Yes I rather buy a PS3, but seriously consumers are going to go nuts over this thing because it is "3D" and it is going to sell hotcakes.

Dark Charizard just showed he is another loyalist who loves paying bills!
you pay the bills and let others rent and get free games

I will not be getting this at launch. I may have to get this preowned or when the price dropped, who knows 2012.

Look at this brick that was the launch DS....LOOK AT IT!!

Are you suuuuure about getting the 3DS day one? Because I smell a new SKU in <2 years that has a decent battery life, better screens, better buttons, etc.

yes yes yes. i support psp2. this is only chance where sony can beat nintendo in handheld

on related note it good to see what is customer reaction when they see what restion that parent get $250 for children gaming (i know older people also play this but i say parent how want to buy it for children)

Not trying be the party basher, but when did graphics help in sell? DS less graphics than PSP guess who sold more. Wii, 360, PS3 guess who sold more. I am not trying to hate but graphics is cool and all but Sony needs something cool other than graphics to make people buy the PSP2. For example, 3DS has an amazing lineup of games coming out, Sony could do that but they need something else other than graphics also a reasonable price for everyone to buy.

Sony has some awesome games on the PSP, but for me at least, the limited control scheme, which is a hardware limitation, makes me prefer to play those games on the PS3. If Sony can get games to control on the PSP2 identical to their PS3 counterparts, then the sky is the limit. As of right now, my PSP play is generally relegated to travel and time killing when work is slow.

I'd get one at launch, but just the thought of spending around 250 for a handheld is just not ideal for me. I'd get it just for ocarina of time, but I'm just hoping it launches at an affordable price.
