that infamous PR pic...LMAO. :)

RSPproductionz2715d ago

Good luck with that. for the record last week the box sold 3000 units and the ps3 around 60,000 units. and it costs about twice the price in japan as the ps3

If I were Microsoft, I would not care about Japan much. Sure the 360 flops in Japan, but in everywhere else it is definitely doing okay to good. And this is only Microsoft's second gen in the console business so I'm pretty sure they are happy with where they are right now and patting each other on the back.

Considering how awesome PS2 was, Sony ****ed up and majorly dropped the ball this gen. Just like what Benitez did with Inter before they sacked him. PS2 already set the stage and ps3 couldnt fully capitalize.

xfrgtr2715d ago (Edited 2715d ago )

The only country where the xbox sells well is the US.Poor xbox.Ps3 is doing great in Europe, asia and the rest of the world. The xbox dropped the ball this gen with hardcore gamers, they are concentrating on Kinect.I feel sorry for xbox fans

Of course this video was too open-minded and optimistic for the majority of the N4G crowd so instead of debating the merits of arguments presented in the video we are left with everyone talking about just how great PS3 is doing across the globe and that it is the best system ever, and that it has so many exclusives...

MariaHelFutura2715d ago

I think after 5 years it`s time for MS to stop trying to impress JP.

SMOK3xFFx2715d ago

Products have to come from a Japanese company to sell in Japan.

MariaHelFutura2715d ago (Edited 2715d ago )

The Ipod/Iphone in MASSIVE in Japan.

SMOK3xFFx2715d ago

You've got me there, but I think that is because it had no direct competition from a Japanese company for so long and has grown on them. Are there any other examples though?

Deathstroke2715d ago

Other examples are Coke & Disney.

Tinasumsum2715d ago

Japan doesn't make those products Maria and death. If they had major investments and leadership in those industries it would be a different story. Japanese snatch up Ipods because they don't make Ipod hardware and America is the leader in software with a technical edge too big to ignore. Disney is not a single product it's a experience from a Disney movie to a Disney Park.

Baka-akaB2715d ago (Edited 2715d ago )

that's a silly excuse . japan got a few mobile phones asian reps , and same goes for mp3 players .

Good luck addressing like that every other brands that work there .

The 360 failed there went it launched with games that have no appeal , regardless of there quality , for the lambda japanese gamer .

Seriously what did you expect from trying to sell them perfect dark and kameo ?

Let me try selling you a japanese console in USA with pachinko games and dating sims at launch . And then you'll tell me if america is being anti foreign products or just bored with it .

Ryudo2715d ago

To be fair 1 exception to a general rule doesn't stop it being one.

And generally Japanese consumers are most interested in Japanese products, I wouldn't call it racism or anything it's just the Japanese has it's own ideas on what an appealing product is.

But I guess part of the charm of the 360 in having your friends in a community online, the Japanese don't work like that up until recently there games where all based around a single player experience.

ct032715d ago

So wait a second. If Sony made a competitor product to the Ipod, do you really think it would sell worse than Apple's Ipod?

These things sell because there aren't Japanese alternatives.

Baka-akaB2715d ago (Edited 2715d ago )

That's quite a lot of exception then . The most hilarious thing , is that some of the comments and usual disagrees are from people who neve set foot there .

But fine if you wanna believe that the youth , actually quite engrossed by "gaijin" culture , movies and products are boycotting a console for such reasons solely , do it as usual .

At least it will be a great scapegoat when again MS or someone else will launch a console again with a fps there .
Let's pretend interesting stuff like blue dragon , Lost odyssey , vesperia , or sigh "Idol master" didnt appears till way later on the 360 . By then the console already had it's image over there .

And the interest from those games still spiked the sales and demands

Tinasumsum2715d ago (Edited 2715d ago )

Not a excuse... The 360 isn't going to crack japan no matter what. The Xbox brand failed before it launched their and not because of Microsoft. Gaming was seen(still seen over there) as a Japanese market, one they are very proud of helping make it what it is today. Gaming is almost cultural to them. They are not going to have an American company come in and take over their native market share. The 360 is going to crack Japan like a Chinese console would America.

@Tinasumsum

Please look on your console of choice and tell me where it was made. China doesn't have to develop a console, they produce all of them.

Dart892715d ago

*Products have to come from a Japanese company to sell in Japan.*
Dumbest thing iv'e ever heard japanese prefer quality.

Tuxedo_Mask2714d ago (Edited 2714d ago )

The Wii had no problem moving units no matter where it was sold.

Tinasumsum2715d ago (Edited 2715d ago )

"Dumbest thing iv'e ever heard japanese prefer quality"

That's the silliest thing I've ever heard the Japanese prefer what they perceive as fantastic or better yet cutting edge and out of the ordinary. Shiny futuristic stuff. They are forced to grow up fast so when they become adults they live out their childhood through entertainment. Anime was inspired by Disney characters like Betty Boop and Popeye.

cereal_killa2715d ago

Japan hated the 1st Xbox because it was to big and bulky the360s RROD and other problems was sure problem for the poor sales in Japan even securing exclusive RPGs in Japan from SquareEnix couldn't even spark any but little interest in people buying the system, And with M$ focusing 90% on Kinect games it certainly will do to anything huge in Japan because of space problems.
And Popeye and Betty Boop were not Disney characters nor created by Disney

shutupandplay2715d ago

Oh please, like the 360 needs Japan. 360 owns the biggest video game market in the world, and will hold onto it indefinitely. I have a better title.

Constructoid: "Helping the PS3 sell anywhere at all" Lets face it, the console is not selling, it is putting up very, very poor numbers and nobody wants it. Tomorrows NPD data will reveal just how badly the gap is widening. Japan? Lol, I think MS has bigger problems, like keeping up with MASSIVE 360 demand worldwide.

Dart892715d ago

Hahaha you make me laugh.
