Why Movie Magic does Not Always Make Great Video Games?

With films getting bigger and bigger it is only natural for companies to want to cash in on the video game version of a film. Future films are already have games in development like Thor, and Captain America. One would think that these video games could live up to magic that the film produces. The problem is that movie video games have not had a great track record. Failures in movie video games goes all the way back to E.T. for the Atari which is one of video games biggest flops. Even today the reviews for more current film video games like Tron Legacy, Iron Man 2, Super Man Returns, and Clash of The Titans are not as flattering as the movie themselves.

I never get into games that are based on movies because they usually suck...

Quagmire4849d ago

You should really try The Ghostbusters game, X-Men Origins Wolverine, and Chronicles of Riddick.

Those are brilliant movie-based video games, but yeah, generally they suck, cept for a few gems.

haha what a joke you call that running...more like crawling

riibhu2101d ago

A year ago persona 5 crawled too you know. Now it runs at almost 20 to 60 fps just like ps3 version but with the added option of 4k as well as 60 fps in palaces.

TheUndertaker852101d ago (Edited 2101d ago )

Why waste time with Resistance 2 & 3 when Sony shut down the online portions to both in 2014?

Not to mention 3 required an online pass.

riibhu2101d ago

They're not wasting time with resistance 2 or 3 specifically. Emulators don't target specific games. They offer general improvement across the whole library. Some games break other times they might improve performance. Some games may not even work due to certain limitation just like you mentioned.

5 worst superhero games

MyGaming: "After years and years of heartache and disappointment with underwhelming superhero video games, we’re finally getting some quality titles featuring our favourite spandex-clad heroes.

That said, it’s time to look back at the worst of the worst to see how far we’ve come. The painful, painful memories."

The ten worst superhero games of all time

Digitally Downloaded writes: "There was a time when superheroes and comic book games were the stuff of legend for how amazingly, spectacularly, incredibly bad they were. I remember buying many a game with my favorite heroes plastered on the front only to be met with the bitter disappointment of how awfully terrible they all were."

i know everyone is going to disagree, but batman arkham city. asylum was astounding though imo

xXBlondieVanHarlowXx4020d ago

I'm not everyone but i disagree. Although i agree that Asylum was better. :D

I'll probably get tossed out of a moving train for saying this but i liked Marvel Nemesis: Rise of the imperfects. I also liked Superman 64 lol. I was 6 when i played it and i loved anything Superman so i was just happy to get the chance to play as him >_< I remember saying "One day they'll make an awesome Superman game",,,, still waiting.

SuicidalTendencies4020d ago

They will never make a good Superman game because the guy is practically invincible. It's kinda like using an infinite health code in another game. It's fun for a while but then you become bored. Superman games are pretty much like that but you can never turn off the code. They could dumb down his powers but then it wouldn't feel like Superman.

"LJN" -- the three worst letters known to man.

Donnieboi4020d ago (Edited 4020d ago )

SuperMan 64. I got it cheap at a local video store when I was 13 where I used to live. It was only 25 cents. I got it only because of how bad I heard it was. YES, it really IS that bad.

Also: Anyone remember that terrible Spawn: The Eternal game for PS1? Wow I remember giving my big sister all of my allowance so she could go buy it for me (since I was under-aged), and then when I played it I damned near ripped my hair out. Trash game.

Once you understand that the "fog" is actually kryptonite fog, then you start to realize that it is actually one of the greatest games ever created.

TheFirstClassic4020d ago

Lol that was just a dumb excuse used to justify the horrible draw distance. Awful game, and im ashamed to say me and my roommate beat the whole game. Couldn't have done it alone tho.

SonyStyled4020d ago (Edited 4020d ago )

I can tell this isnt an American article, cuz if it was it would include the xbox Burger King games

SuicidalTendencies4020d ago

Burger King guy isn't a superhero. What the hell are you talking about?

SonyStyled4020d ago

The King and Ronald are pretty much super heroes here in America. We love our burgers

ApolloTheBoss4020d ago

As a kid I actually thought Superman 64 was good. Man what was I smoking back then?

brich2334020d ago

I would like to know, i couldnt get past 10 second with that game.

TheFirstClassic4020d ago

I was actually fairly critical of games when i was younger. First game i ever played and beat was mario 64, so the bar was set pretty high.
