ARS: LittleBigPlanet 2 Review

ARS: This is a good game, and the community-built levels should ultimately add a lot of life to the experience. It's just a shame the platforming wasn't made tighter and the engine wasn't significantly tuned graphically. The game still looks gorgeous, but there is very little that seems like it couldn't have been within the first game. The story mode can be beaten very quickly, and you're either going to find worth in the wonderful content creation tools... or you're going to feel slightly cheated.

Good review, but the thing that gets me with these reviews of LBP2, and even dating back to LBP, are the comments about the platforming. LBP was never intended to be as tightly controlled as say a Mario game.

It is a physics based platformer. Using my logic, I believe the reason the jumping is "floaty" as they say, is because it IS a physics based platformer. Maybe MM just wanted the jumping that way because sackboy is made of very light materials. Since this is a physics based platformer, I assume that they would rather have ALL the materials and whatnot based on physics. Common sense if you ask me. Then again, I could be completely wrong and talking out of my a**.

Anyways, I've never had any trouble with the platforming. The only problems I had were in the difficulty of the later levels. Though that would be filed under a problem with my skill, and not a broken platforming mechanic. Nevertheless, I respect the opinions of others.

Actually what you say makes a lot of sense to me. Good post!

I don't understand why so many people complain about the "floaty" jump. This is OBVIOUSLY a developer choice and gamers should/will get used to it.

This is the same thing as a person who only plays CoD, then plays BFBC2 or KZ3 and says the game is broken because the gameplay is slow and tactical.
