"Build a gamer a level, and he plays for a day. Teach him to build, and he plays for a lifetime." ~ Josh Laddin
This one of the most creative reviews I've seen done. I think I fall in the A+ range.
You got disagrees cause they think Lbp2 is also on another platform?!?! Lol!
You can't call out GOTY in the first month of the year. Shaka you are feeding the trolls, when and if a better game comes out.
I really love that quote. Fits perfectly with LittleBigPlanet.
That really is a dam good quote. Props to whoever thought of it.
It comes from an older quote that I think came from Chinese proverb that goes: "Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day. Teach a man to fish and he will eat for a lifetime."
Yup Alpha hit it on the head.
Don't forget the many, many, many spinoffs. "Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day. Teach him how to fish, and he will sit in a boat and drink beer all day."
lol the trolls now start reviewing a minus for being to cute? seriously wtf? this game is rated E for everyone was to be appealing to small children as cute. this dumbass play fps games all day or what?
There is no negative for being cute. You didn't read the card properly. The last card is their report. The ones before are some sort of scoring guideline, it is NOT their final opinion on the game. And they complain about the floaty controls and steep learning curve. That's it. The review is fine. Not everybody has to give it A++ Edit: wow, you get 8 agrees for inaccurately making a wrongful claim, it's quite evident people didn't read the review but simply start crying when they see any score that isn't up to their liking. Disagree till your face turns blue, there is nothing wrong with this review giving the game a B+
@ Alpha, you've got a good head on your shoulders. Let me put something together and I'll get it to you before the week is over.
Alpha...thats N4G.COM for you....
look at report card c
The report says B+ The C is in reference to a "Do it Yourself" Scoring guide. The opinion of the reviewer is that the game is a B+: "Hope you had fun! And hopefully you were able to figure out where you fit on the spectrum of gamers, cause LittleBigPlanet 2 will elicit a wide range of responses from those who play it. Anyway, on to the “real” report card, because the powers that be demand it of me." B+ + Entertaining story mode - …minus some floaty controls + Tons of collectibles + Great co-op and versus play + Unprecedented level editor abilities - …with a steep learning curve + You should always find new creations online +/- Pretty much entirely community-driven
@zerox505 Please pay attention to the whole review before jumping to conclusions. Report cards A, B, and C are NOT the actual grades, they are reflections of what certain types of gamers would think. In this case, report card C is from the point of view of someone who isn't into level editor type stuff. It isn't at all indicative of the final B+ grade, which weighs those different points of view together.
AHHH i see thank you for clearing this out
Game Revolution is widely known for being particularly tough on games. According to Metacritic they rate games on average 10 points lower than the average critic score. With Game Rev, you know you are getting a unbiased, quality review as they've been around for roughly 15 years. http://www.metacritic.com/p... Game Revolution has published over 2300 reviews. How many have you published?
What the fuck is up with these lower scores lately? In a few months (or weeks after release) they'll be eating their words with the communities' creations. They'll be creating things beyond our wildest dreams! Just wait and see......
The review doesn't complain about the community levels, it complains about the campaign's floaty jumping and steep learning curve. I really don't understand why everybody goes apeshit over a slightly lower review score.
They go apeshit because they are fanboys. Reviews are ONE persons opinion. That's why reviews are just guides and for the most part...nonsense. The person BUYING the game should be the judge. Not someone we don't know from Adam.
No one is going apeshit it just some people feel like it shouldn't get a B :/
Maybe I wanna go apeshit. SO THE FUCK WHAT. Its my opinion that this game deserves a better score and I commented. That's what comments are for. If you disagree then say it. No reason to diagnose me with fanboyism.
"floaty jumping and steep learning curve" I can see where it can be a matter of personal taste reguarding that. Much like Killzone 2's "weighty" feel. The floatyness is a trademark of the game. Its synonymous with sackboy. What do they want KZ3 to be COD and LBP to be Mario? If they consider that a steep leaning curve then I can only assume they didn't play the first LBP.
And I guarantee you if they felt like COD and Mario, it'd still be a minus in these people's books. There is NOTHING wrong with LBP controls, they are different, that is all. I can control LBP just as well as any other platformer out there, if you can't, you're just not good at the game. Which in that case, should NOT result in a lower score.
Strange score. It deserves more than B+
most games that are infinite especially after the story mode + online play infinite fun should deserve A+ i agree with you.
Geez, Didn't you all get the point of the multiple report cards? Or did you just not read the whole thing? The review (and the final score) is pointing out that this game isn't for everyone. Some people out there will view it as an A+. Some who just aren't into the level editor stuff will like it less. The final score is a reflection of that.
"Some who just aren't into the level editor stuff will like it less." I didn't make a single level in LBP and it is still in my top 3 games on this generation. That statement is simply not true. Even if you aren't into creating levels like me, you get to play the millions of levels from people who are.
I'm suddenly hungry for fish.
In case people didnt read the review, it didnt get a B+. I actually really like this kind of review. It isnt a one-size-fits-all review. I'd like to see more of these. Edit: And 49erguy- You ARE a fanboy. Apparently you just started going crazy before actually READING the review. Obviously you fall into the A+ range. No need to go beserk over the people who fall into the B and C- range. Chill out, as a favor to the N4G community.
The multiple scores were confusing (even if the "real" one was included below). But it's good to see a reviewer who likes to have a little fun with the standard review format.
I love that the review has a creative twist to it! Different from the norm and fun to read.
Gamerevolution= the best
I really like the choose your own score idea. You definitely get out what you put in to the game. I can't wait to see what the community does with this one.
Reviews are not really supposed to be opinions. It is supposed to be more professional then that. For example if I hate RPGs and I have to review one i have to still make sure and say if it is a good game if it is one. If it was truly based on my opinion then I would make sure that every RPG I reviewed got a low score. BTW I am not sure what is with the lowers scores for floaty jumping. I think LBP2 fans are already used to LBP controls by now so this shouldn't be a problem. Also what is with all the haters telling us not to protest about scores. It is our damn game and we can protest if we want.I can go down to Game Revolution with picket signs and protest until they give it a better score if I wanted to.
The LBP2 community should be able to convince many people to buy the game after creating killer content.
I'm not getting burned by this piece of crap again. This game deserves praise for the graphics and graphics alone. The gameplay sucks. Did anybody see the video of that Doom level? That was possibly the worst version of Doom ever made. I think I will stick to playing game levels created by the pros instead of crappy versions of good games. I'm also confused why this could not have been an expansion pack.
what a strange way to do a review. But its nice to see that the game is getting better reception than GT5.
