Valve Looking to Port Games to Linux?

Valve is apparently looking for senior engineers to port games to Linux. One of the lines under the job description is the simple statement: "Port Windows-based games to the Linux platform."

No reason to get excited about this before they make an official announcement; while this may eventually mean Half-Life 2 running under Linux, they may just want penguin-based folks to play Peggle.

I guess they would be doing that via openGL since they're going to need a common API to pull it off. The thing is that there isn't much hardware made specifically for Linux boxes, so compatibility is going to be so much more of an issue than it is for PC gaming.

Maybe they can pull it off. Who knows?

True, they wont be using commercial stuff like Cedega or whatever transgaming is making. But since Source is not bleeding edge, I am guessing they wont have many problems porting from DX to OpenGL.
