Sony UK has ordered 250.000 brochures, to promote the better understanding of their console, and it's benefit. The brochures will make their way in commercial centers in the United Kingdom starting from October.
Ridiculous. Is that really what they think? That we're not buying PS3s here because we "don't understand"? Sony, the PS3 isn't selling well here because the PS3 costs more than most people make in a month, because there are no games that justify the purchase, because HD-DVD and Bluray haven't taken off yet here, and because the Wii and 360 are far more trusted as well as far better advertised. Not because we're too stupid.
Sony always thinks that is right and if people do not behave like they want us to we are stupid; just remember Lair.
Yes I remember Lair. It's a good game in my opinion. Not the best, but good none the less. as for the brochures I don't know what to say about that. But I will say if Sony would stop being stupid and cryptic with their PS3 advertisements and get classic, straight forward and to the point maybe it would help sales in some form. That's not going without saying Microsofts advertisements are equally stupid and irrelevent to gaming as well. I have only seen Nintendo market their console the way *I would* and that's to show the games in motion, being played, etc. The Nintendo commericals look fun and show *people* playing the games. Sony and Microsoft should take note.
Jeez. SCEE should really, really get a new marketing director.
HAHAHA now the people are wrong too, this is getting really funny!!. What next UMD movie brochures.
"High End" brochuring doesn't start until Sony says so! This brochure will come bundled with 5 how-to DVD's, reading glasses and a cup holder all for the low price of $299.99. =)
dude your so wrong it will come on one bluray disk. I dont want to get up and change the disk 5 times to find out how stupid Sony thinks I am. Yesterday I decided the PS3 was not for me after convincing myself I wanted one. I was talking to an old hhighschool friend on XBL and he said I could have his and not to waste my money. I said I didnt want to pay for shipping.
there is nothing wrong with that, it's called marketing. Microsoft does it with HALO 3. Many people out there don't know just how much you can do with ps3 or what it will be able to do with future updates. So you know all ps3 has to offer? here's a E-cookie! but if they can get sales by having a high-end brochure explaning features and benefits, then it was all worth it.
alot of X360 and PS3 owners are not aware of their consoles HD capabilities?. Fact is the majority of people are not aware of HD as well as new sound tech and other tech which is built into the PS3. Sony is doing the right thing. Why do you guys have to make it as Sony trying to say that we the consumers are dumb?. This is a good move as it is simply informing potential PS3 about all the stuff that comes with PS3 but if you are one of very few that knows everything about the ps3 i simply suggest you don't pick it up.
this is good for sony... with the constant updating of the system there are many consumers who dont know of the newest features of the system. Just because we all check this website does not mean everyone in the world knows whats going on. for instance, most people dont know what the significance of Blu-ray is, or the cell? case 1: go talk to a majority of parents, most of them think it is just a stupid game system, but they dont know what kind of value is being put into the console. I am constanly telling people of the new changes. Like the upscaling feature, surprisingly there are alot of people out there dont know that the ps3 upscales. there are also alot of people out there who dont know about DLNA or even updates themselves? i have friends who have never updated cause they dont know what it does! there are alot of people who dont know about the [email protected] client. There are alot of people who dont even understand how HD works, IE HDMI, HD-CP, Blu-ray, etc... alot of people dont know how to reset the video output of the system. I know of one family who has a PS3 but only has 56k internet! so they know almost nothing about it, just that it plays the newer games.... the point is people seriously dont know about the console and thats why they dont see the value in the price. they cant justify it, these booklets may help people understand
Thats what i was saying. Why people are saying this is Sony saying that we the consumers are dumb honsetly puzzles me. Sony packed alot of new tech in the PS3 and as a result it is more expensive than its rivals and the least they could do is inform potential buyers about its features which can't all be printed on the box.
This brochure could act as a nice way to understand the features included with the PS3...because....many people are not fully aware of what the machine can do. But....i'm sure Sony will use this brochure as a tool for exaggeration. No doubt it will make the PS3 seem more powerful and better than it actually is, instead of being an informative guide for newcomers.
ah man, again with the arragonce, for f*ck sake. getting pretty sick of this with sony PR. firs it was critics that needed brochures and now the genral public? instead of fcking keep pouring money into this kind of scheme and thinking people are stupid and ur all mighty and misunderstood. buy some god damn development studios or pay a lot to the already exisitng one so they can employ more people and come over the difficult development curve.come one man, we spent so much of our hard earned cash, want some return god dammit. its funny that once mighty marketing machine keep doing stupid crap like this, im a fan of both consoles but by now i was expecting the gap to be narrowed a bit more if they wanted any chance to stay market leader. These dumb mistaks were happening much less frequently in the last gen. i dotn see anything on the horizon that will pushmore people to buy it,my friends in the uk are buying 360s left and right and once cool factor of sony is fading away quickly. fix up or shut up
If Sony can tell reviewers how to review their games, then they sure as hell can tell consumers how to buy their console.Consumers,we are so dumb! Thank god we have Sony to show us the way.I have been waiting for quite a while now for PS3 to give me a reason to buy, but Sony seem intent in trying to put me off! This move doesn't help.
Sony remains hellbent on forcing this "convergence" nightmare on consumers? Their arrogance will translate into record sales for HD-DVD, 360 & Wii come Christmas! Is there a PS3 death watch up yet? Maybe Capcom will drive a stake through the heart of this beast on the 19th.
TO SONY: It will be better if you spend money on getting exclusives and pushing devs to make good games rather than trying once again to pull wool over public's eyes. The retards already bought into your hype year back but the sane ones are patiently waiting for something worthwile to show up on ps3 to justify spending $600 on it. You'd think they are stupid that they dint believe your pre-lauch hype and now they will read your Krappy bogus brochure and think wow we will go and buy a ps3 right now. You SIR SONY are one hell of an idiot.
Some console manufacture's make games for their systems.....Sony makes brochure's.
but can we get another price drop Sony? You get ALL this(stuff in the brochure)for only $450!! and watch'em come running. Seriously though, it could be a way to make some comparisons to high light PS3 advantages vs Wii and 360. Example: Consumer wants a console for gaming and hi end dvd. Alot of people dont know that its $179 for an external HD DVD drive for 360 so that could possibly help validate the cost(which i still think they should drop). That would be WAAAAAAAAAAAY more effective than a brochure.
I got it right here: "We here at Sony, find that it is important to pay a significant sum of money in order to recieve little or nothing in return. We've represented this belief by the expensive brochure you are now reading. Please flip through to see images of the PS3... our lowest return on consumer investment product in years!" On the back it says: "Thanks for reading, we just ran your credit card for $100. We're sending you a gold-trimmed, lace embroidered receipt now." In small print: "This publication can also play Blu-Ray DVD's. Please buy 10 of them."
Sounds more like an obituary
Indeed it is. An expensive one at that.
Sony totally forgot how to market. I see no commercials for nothing. Ididn't see one for Lair, HS, or Warhawk. What idiots.
They are banking on (moronic, blind, biased & uneducated) fanboys and previous success... they know that sinking MORE money into the PS3 will only dig the hole deeper. Significantly increasing their overall cost of marketing. There is a good chance you will never see a commercial again for the PS3.
get the sand out of your vagina, fangirls. There's nothing wrong with sony listing EVERY little thing PS3 can do that it's competitors can't. Maybe you can show the brochure to your daddy and explain it's not just a game console, and you can do some really neat things with it, then daddy might buy you one for christmas.
when I see in our local mall a ps3 ad, it doesn't really state that it's a game console. it just spout: the cell (which most don't know about) and blueray. Which is not what they should do. Forget the technical part, because it is not attractive to consumers. I mean do you really want to ask a clerk what the cell is? they mostly dont know anything, let alone no one ;) but market the free online, wireless controller and whatnot. it's simply for the best for them
