The old saying, “you get what you pay for” clearly applies to Frima Studio’s recent PSN title, A Space Shooter For Two Bucks!, since it only costs two measly dollars to download. We just wish the developers spent more time tweaking the controls.

The Space Shooter- a genre of game that gave every gamer the chance to experience space combat in the essence of combat scenario greats such as the Assault on the Death Star. Flying in a full 360 degree environemnt, you placed your pilot skills to their fullest in the vastness of space, the depths of underground bases, and on the treacherous terrain of a planet all the while in the thick of a hostile and dangerous battle.

While A Space Shooter for 2 Bucks! was in many ways an amazing game when released, it was a bit buggy. But, Frima has issued a patch to correct this issue, as well as adding cheat codes.
For 2 bucks the game is good. I'm the guy who flipped Galaga back to 0 in the Nes days, and can get to level 67 on my Coin-op. It is, without a doubt, one of my top 5 games of all time. I just love it. I love the simplicity of it. I love the controls. I love the skill involved with it.
Shooters are tied for 2-d platformers for my genre of choice. So, while I get and play most of them, this game just feels sluggish and restrictive. It's good. But it's not great.
