WSVG Has been Canceled And Has Closed Its Doors

Effective immediately, Games Media Properties will no longer produce the World Series of Video Games. The remainder of the 2007 season in Los Angeles, London and Sweden is cancelled...

The story is too old to be commented.

"... we are deeply appreciative that we have had the opportunity to contribute to the growth of eSports."

I'm sorry, but video games are not a sport. Anything where a 300 lb. fatass has just as much chance of winning as someone half his size and age is not a sport. Period.

lol, you're right. I never understood how people consider chess to be a sport.

While not the most prominent the WSVG has/had a great deal of exposure.. As gaming continues to become more popular events like those the WSVG hold/held will also grow in popularity. It's a shame to see them go as they like many other event organizers who are now gone were clearly before their time IMO.

As for the comments above.. It's really too bad that's the mentality of the majority of American gamers for organized gaming (including some gamers themselves, if you get that). Hopefully we'll be able to get past that BS someday and get on the same page as the rest of the world in regards to organized gaming.

If you are trying to say video games are a sport, Go play a real sport and see the difference.

While i dont see it as a sport...i do see it as something that can be played competatively and why not have "game stars" such as MLG who are all contracted?

Id ratehr watch a Halo match than darts or snooker anyday.

So yes..not a sport as such...but something that should be comeptatively played in my opinion. :)

More power to them. Just don't call it a sport. "Competitive Gaming" is fine.
