Wii Zapper: Are they going too far?

Sorry Nintendo, but this is a step too far. The reality is the Wii Zapper is a white plastic frame to hold your Nunchuk and Wii-mote in a gun-shaped formation. And that's all.

We tried simply holding our Wii-mote and Nunchuk in this fashion this morning and you know what? It works fine. We didn't need the frame to assist us. Our hands were up to the job.

I thought those Tennis and golf frames where a waste but this for some reason I like. I can't wait for Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles with this.

I don't mind the idea of the Zapper. Though the tennis and golf frames where a waste and was pretty funny. Luckily Nintendo didn't make those. Wii Zapper is fine and dandy and EA, Capcom, and friends seem to like the Zapper as well.

I completely agree with both of you - have bubbles.

Seriously, this is one Wii peripheral that actually looks set to be pretty cool.

I keep saying it, but I still think swinging the thing around backwards to bash a soldier/alien in the head with the butt of your rifle is a cool concept that is not natural (or practical to map) without this. As is the feel of a gunblade for sword-fighting/shooting.

What about two of these (one in each hand) to approximate Bloodrayne-type weapon-play? Crouching when you drop the weapon height... I'm just throwing things out...

It's going to be more ergonomic and cause less strain even on the purely rail shooter games... makes sense.

I agree this peripheral doesn't add much but it's better than holding your hands in place like the picture shows.
