An Israeli who devised a video game based on a Jewish uprising at Auschwitz has cancelled its launch, saying he is distraught by the negative reaction.

Negative reaction? Isn't that a shock. We're only discussing the single most disgusting, controversial thing of the 20th century. Who knew? Let's do what the rest of the world wants us to do and forget about the whole thing, until it's time to donate to another museum.
Forgetting about it is probably the most inhumanly disrespectful thing you could do to all those people who unjustly lost there lives though don't you think? I mean no one tries to go an pretend the 9/11 never happened. Or Hurricane Katrina, in fact they never shut up about it which gets annoying cause there are plenty of other worse things that happen in the world every single day.

I didn't say it being a video game automatically makes it tasteless, but using an old Wolfenstien mod to portray a Jewish struggle is.
I won't deny that the Holocaust was a horrible event, but to call it the "worst" thing is kinda questionable. Go search up "Unit 731". You'll have your mind blown at what those guys did to other humans in WW2.

They heard Uwe Boll recently made a holocaust movie and they didn't want people to associate their game with such a horrible thing as a Uwe Boll movie.
Uwe Boll is a skidmark on the fabric of the movie industry... but he isn't quite incorrigible. He directed the movie Rampage, which is one of the most exhilarating, man's man movies I've seen in a while (and no, it doesn't star any big monkeys or big lizards).
The actual plot is alright, but the action in that movie was great. Kind of twisted, but also funny and memorable.
Rampage is the worse movie Uwe has turned out. Quick shots and MTV edits do not make a good movie.
A person going around shooting everyone because he thinks they're also does not make a good movie.

Making a game of the Holocaust is just sick. Maybe the developer of the game should visit Auschwitz once in a while to see this is totally not a joke, or should be a game.

It's ok to make a video game killing innocent civilians but not a game about a jewish uprising, Its a mod this guy put his time into and deserves to at least be released.

I bet you there are a good chunk of people who could care less about the Holocaust, just because they have never truly seen the types of things that happened. The main thing that Holocaust survivors say today "We must not forget." By sheltering the subject and making it a taboo to talk about doesn't really help it.. if anything it will make some forget about it faster.
Holocust = overdone, yes its important, but there are more important issues today. For example the Isreal/palastine issue. Make a game about that, or is that to controversial?
In my opinion, the Holocaust should never be forgotten, and ALL media can be used to teach or remember, even software. But a game? Once a year we all dress up like GI's, Nazi's and Taliban or whatever and shoot the living crap out of eachother, which is good fun, but I don't want to see myself trying to avoid the gaschambers of Auschwitz or surviving in a ghetto. I learned about it and I will remember it, but I don't want to 're-play' those atrocities.

When I first heard about the "controversy" one group was trying to stir up about some supposed Holocaust game, my initial reaction was,
"well yea maybe in 2010 the graphics might be too disturbing to be tasteful on any level, I mean ITS NOT LIKE ITS MADE ON THE OG DOOM ENGINE RIGHT?"
