Resistance 3 Trailer Dissected: Enemies

tbh, i wasn't too impressed with the resistance 3 trailer, but the detail is much better than resistance 2. I guess i shouldn't have expected something like KZ2 gfx from insomniac, still looks good tho

comparing two very different games when it comes to artistic style and game direction

if Insomniac went the way of GG and ND and became a 1st party Sony Studio, then their budget would have seen an increase allowing them to test out new things while pushing the limits just like KZ and UC have been doing

personally Insomniac listens to its fans, the trailer showed all of those who were skeptical to breathe a sigh of relief as the game looks to be shaping up to the best in the series

Personally I love the look, the art direction, the textures. A more realistic approach.

Indications from the officially released info and hints in the trailer point to some survival type moments of which a little was seen in R2.

According to the FAQ they are also adjusting the pacing and providing more incidents and time for exploration. Story telling will be from the First Person this time as well.

R3 is showing more impressive graphics than U3 and K3, this is my personal taste, I see Insomiac delivering more realistic visuals than U3 and K3, U3 and K3 are really good-looking and will surpass anything else on the market, K2 still has be best graphics IMHO. U2 had impressive graphics but of the type "pretty"

for some reason people criticized graphics in Resistance 2, they look great, have you zoomed to a chimera? it looks awesome, co-op looks fantastic despite of the mayhem, seriously, R2 looks much better than a lot of games, don't get all the hate

Sometimes it feels that many of those have either SD TVs or really cheap LCD TVs so some games look better than others, the sound in R2 was awesome but of course must of those haters don't have a setup...

I'm more excited for this than I am for KZ3. I wasnt a fan of Resistance 2, but this game looks amazing. The art style and atmosphere above all impressed me the most. To me, the art style of this game makes R3 look better than KZ3. Not to mention the beautiful lighting, animation, and crazy particle effects (blood spatter FTW). The weapons look like they're gonna be super cool, too. Im really excited.

I really think RE3 is going to be an amazing AAA title but def not beating KZ in looks man. I really am loving the animation and the particle effects in RE3 a lot but then again the KZ3 animation of the helghast , the death animations is Mind blowing. I still remember how I used to purposely empty my clip to see the reloading animations. It was beautiful and KZ3 continues the trend! but anyeays RE3 is shaping up to be one of the best shooters this gen and the half life vibe is seriously looking awesome!

I agree on you that the Killzone 3's graphics look better than R3. HOWEVER, the art-style and the animations on R3 are far far superior. I nearly choked when the chimera moved as if it were a CG-film. Those animations were godly (not apparent on YT but it was on GT).

However, I would not be surprised if they surpassed K3 in graphics. Remember, Killzone is slated to be released in the next few months while Resistance would almost have a year TO POLISH since they've already confirmed the game can now be played "from start to finish".

Everytime I look at Killzone 3 I see awesome particle effects but the texture's all look so flat and low resolution. Kind of ruins the look for me R3 is much more consistent and looks more detailed.

while the multiplayer isn't much to write home about, even though i do love the resistance 2 co op.

The Resistance franchise has probably one of the top story lines/campaigns in most of todays shooters. Anxiously looking forward to the rest of the story.

i like the approach they put standard chimera more into running and biting than shooting. gives more chilling feeling than just another shooter.

I wasn't real impressed with uncharted 3 or forza4 as they both showed a very mediocore at best cut scenes if any at all. A big desert that's gold whoo hoo. I was impressed with resistance as it showed a lot more game play and its looking great.

R3 looks dam good!!! i might drive down to their burbank studio and tell them how much i like the new art direction. lol i am glad i live in CA. this is my most love ps3 game. a close second is MAG... great job SONY/Never Sleep.

I just wish they will bring back the vehicles just like R1 and also have an online and most of all an "off line split screen" mode ala L4D.

I hope the in game graphics look as good as the video's alleged gameplay segments. The gun, enemies and basically everything showed in the gameplay segments were highly impressive and blew the other 2 games out of the water. I like how they have reverted back to the grittier, more realistic look of the 1st game. Also the return of the weapon wheel is radtabulous, as it sucked when they went all COD(/& every other try hard realistic shooter), by messing with the already proven and awesome weapons galore mentality of R1...Why & who came up with the idea to limit/govern players on this aspect of revolutionary gameplay is anyones guess. I mean, the awesomely original weapons was one of this games biggest bullet points.

Now Insomniac.....PLEASE bring back the 1 shot kill multiplayer mode, along with toning down how many shots it takes to kill enemies (in multiplayer only) when not in One shot kill mode and it will be THE BEST console shooter available. The amount of shots required to nail an opponent online was part 2's biggest flaw. Part 1 on 1 shot kill is still the most flawless, lagless, fair and even multiplayer game I have EVER played on ANY console to date.....If you shot each other at the same time, bam you both died....Never once while playing R1 on one shot kills did I feel frustrated, ripped off, or disadvantaged due to lag/latency, hit detection or any other game or internet related issues. Compare that to COD:MW1+2, BO, and EVERY other shooter available on consoles, and R1 literally craps on the competition in this vital multiplayer game play aspect.

Also if they concentrate on what made R1's single player component more fun than 2's, which was the feeling of overwhelming odds, and massive war like battles, as opposed to pre-determined, scripted set pieces (like the giant boss battle around skyscraper). As the latter elements riddled throughout part 2 felt pretty boring & under whelming....whereas R1 felt eratic, chaotic and totally random.

Can't wait for the game, and Insomniac won't dissapoint. I sold R2 after finishing it offline, and playing a little bit online, and I was dissapointed with the game at the time after part 1 thrilled me.....But I bought if back again cheap off ebay the other day, and it's like a new game again...Especially after playing COD sequel after sequel.....R2 feels like a breath of fresh air in comparison to all the "me too" fps's that have been riddling the market...and R2's 60 player online games are waaay better than I remembered, and offer one of the best online experiences going around. Anyone who passed on R2, should go & get this little gem, it undeservedly under performed sales wise compared to how it should have for it's HIGH quality gameplay xperience.

Part 3 is a 1st day purchase for me, as long as it's the usual team that worked on prequels, rather than a bitsa team created due to the multiplatform situation. I'm betting that had R2 sold like it deserved, instead of lacklustre in large part caused by overhype and scoring of Activisions cash cows, then Insomniac would still be exclusive to ps3...

Shame on PS3 owning fps and action, sci-fi fans who failed to give this game a chance, because it is a great exclusive, by awesome developers that listen to there fans. Both titles should be sitting next to ps3 owners machines, with a space between them reserved until september.
