Gamervision: "Once upon a time, skateboarding video games were incredibly arcadey. The main tasks involved collecting letters, and getting high scores with some insane and impossible moves. As the consoles got stronger, the fan base grew more rabid, and the genre began moving into simulation territory. While the skating video games have moved towards becoming more realistic, there’s a gap left waiting to be filled by a skating game that delivers all the thrills of more classic titles like Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater and SSX. Now I’m not saying the goal of Shaun White Skateboarding was to fill that gap, but the game feels very much like a throwback to a time when skating games were all about having a good time, and not peripherals or realistic physics and moves. Of course, that’s only when you can get past the arduous story quests."
