I have the 911 S and was looking for this new wheel to hit but didn't know it was coming this soon. Definitely going to preorder it today.

I'll wait to see what the new official GT wheel is like when it releases first. Don't want to wait too long though..

@BrutallyHonest ... Me too, I ordered my GT2 with Clubsports yesterday! It says on Fanatecs site that they'll do their best to ship them before January if possible, keeping everything crossed lol!

Those Clubsports pedal set looks really sweet as does this new Fanatec wheels (GT2 and GT3) but what I still don't get is when will they make a decent shifter box?

Don't get me wrong, I have a G27 and the small and clunk shifter stick in it annoy the hell out of me too, but this GT2 shifter looks a lot like the piece of cheap plastic that came with 911S (actually, the sequential one looks to be exactly the same).

I don't know if this companies just believe people don't even use it (as the guy on the video, I don't even see why he has a clubsports pedal set if he isn't using a clutch) or if the price would be prohibitive, but those cheap ass gear shifters take away from the great experiences that Logitech G25, Fanatec 911S and Thrustmasters RGT FFB could give us. Commons sense sugested that newer wheels would get past that but the G27 is out and the shifter didn't improved much (and lost the sequential hability, now it's straight H pattern only), GT2 doesn't seem like they improved the shifter, GT3 will have a sold separeted clubsports shifter set that please god don't let it be the GT2 one... Now only T500RS (new Gran Turismo branded wheel from Thrustmasters that has ben tweet'd from Kaz to be the high end GT branded wheel, in opposition to the Logitech Driving Force GT which is great but lack the higher end options as clutch pedal and shifter box) is still to be completelly revealed and although we know it have a clutch pedal, no shifter was seen so far.

I'm not trying to nitpick on the shifter matter, you can have fun with wheels that don't even have a clutch pedal or shifter beyond paddles, but the high end wheel market has seen much less evolution than the mid range and entry level. While those had been receiving over 240º of steering, dual motor force feedback and assignable buttons, the newer high end seem to just be about a more fancy looking wheel.

@bishop : fanatec have been working on a clubsport shifter for some time, latest reports indicate a March 2011 release.

Plus if you new anything about sim racing products you'd know that the standard fanatec shifter is superior in feel and use to the G27s.

I only buy exclusive PS3 wheels. Looks nice though.
Washington-Capitals  +   1703d ago
Why? That sounds pretty illogical to me... if the best wheel on the market just so happened to run on all three platforms, you are telling me you wouldn't buy it for the fact its not just on ps3 compatible? Kind of ignorant.

That's it. I rather support companies that gives Sony exclusivity, whenever it is possible.
It's not the wheel that makes a driver.

Besides, Thrust Master is a good wheel.

Wow bud, did you really just try to defend you point of view? Why does it matter if you support a company that gives sony exclusivity? Is sony going to come to your house and say, "hey thanks for buying a ps3 exclusive wheel here is some money". They aren't going to do that, i find it funny sometimes when people think supporting multinational corporations is their duty. They honestly just want your money its a business.

There are no exclusive PS3 wheels anyways, so I don't know what he's buying. Even the Logitech Driving Force GT is a PC/PS3 wheel.

the move wheel?
Vesemir  +   1703d ago
PC isn't console. It's just logical that PS3 wheels offers support for PC.

If thinking the PC isn't a console makes you sleep better at night, so be it, but the rest of us live in reality, and PC's are gaming consoles too.
Klepto  +   1703d ago
No, PC's are computers and have the ability to play games. Playstation and Xbox are gaming consoles because their primary function is to play games.
cb4g  +   1703d ago
That doesn't make any sense...at all. What if, hypothetically, the only exclusive wheel on the PS3 was a flaming hot turd, would you still buy it?

I could only afford DFGT but, given the chance, I would swipe this in a second.
Kalowest  +   1703d ago
Damn, if only i had the money.
adumbpolock  +   1703d ago
im split between this and the G27.
I want to get a nice full wheel/pedal/shifter set up but i have yet to find detailed diagrams on building a nice cockpit for cheap. I also live in a dorm room and space is a limited resource.
Si-Fly  +   1703d ago
No comparison, if you can afford it you buy the Fanatec.
BISHOP-BRASIL  +   1703d ago
I would wait for reviews. I have a G27 but I'm no fanboy of any... This wheel looks a lot better than G27 on the visual end and the actual steering wheel seens to be bigger (not real size yet, but bigger than G27 which is already great) but that shifter they showed in this video looks a lot like the crappy shifter that came with 911S (the sequential one looks to be the exactly same).

Although this shifter could be the down side, the up side is that Fanatec usually receive accessories from clubsports and there is chance that the rumoured GT3 compatible clubsports shifter box could work with GT2 too, now that would be a great pack.
Si-Fly  +   1703d ago
Fanboy does seem an apt description for you Bishop! I just ordered a fanatec after comparing reviews between the G27 and GT3s. The fanatec shifter is widely regarded as superior to the logitech, maybe you should try one?

It really is a sweet looking wheel:
But after seeing the Thrustmaster T500, I'm making reservation for that.

However, it seems they've managed to save up enough cash to buy a Ferrari Enzo on GT5, not sure how much money you'll make on the advanced courses but I'll assume they're reached Lvl 20 or so to more accurately depict the AI/Damage features.

Is it the video out of timecode sync or does that really seem like a lot of lag on wheel movements?
adumbpolock  +   1703d ago
Ive noticed that on almost all hands on wheels ive used. there's a delay in the display showing the wheel turning but not in the actual movement of the vehicle.
OG-Docta  +   1703d ago
great wheel, but damn for $500 it better come with a PS3 and GT5 /s. When he plays GT5 he uses paddle shifters and in game the driver uses the stick. When he plays Forza, he uses the stick and in game it looks like the driver does nothing. Nothing serious, I just find it funny.
Kalowest  +   1703d ago
T10 should've released a patch to fix that.
iamgoatman  +   1703d ago
They did patch it, pretty early on in fact.
ShinFuYux  +   1703d ago
I kinda feel really happy that I bought my wheel for 75 dollars on Ebay. The price for a new wheel is just ridiculous! Holy crap, the way he said "250" made it sound it wasn't a big deal. Dude, it is a big deal.

But I really wish my wheel worked on my 360 also. I'm curious to know how different the experience is by driving Forza 3 and Project Gotham Racing on a wheel.
Bathyj  +   1703d ago
If anyones still playing GT with a DS3, dude, hurry up and get a wheel.

Trust me I know, I play 4 GT's with a controller. I dont know what I was thinking.

Theres no going back now, not ever. Just get a wheel.
