Weekly Sales Analysis, 27 November 2010 - Gran Turismo 5 Debuts

"Gran Turismo 5 (PS3) is this week’s top debut with sales of over 2 million. Donkey Kong Country Returns (Wii) is the other big debut this week with sales of over 500,000. It is a strong week as Black Friday one of the busiest shopping days in the United States of the year was this week. Sales are up significantly across the board as three platforms saw sales more than double. Two games sold over 1 million, the top ten sold over 500,000 and the top 37 sold over 100,000..." (Call of Duty: Black Ops, Donkey Kong , Donkey Kong Country Returns, EA, Gran Turismo 5, Mario Sports Mix, Michael Jackson The Experience, Nintendo DS, PC, PS3, PSP, Wii, Xbox 360)

Doubtful

Sweet so VG charts is officially rumor now. Finally some sanity on this website.
somerandomdude  +   1382d ago
Just in. Pachter projects 1 billion sales for project natal this week.

VGCartz is going to have some competition.
trunkswd  +   1382d ago
For people calling VGC numbers fake. They aren't meant to be 100% accurate but provide an estimate. Read this to see where VGC gets its numbers from http://www.vgchartz.com/art...

DISCLAIMER: Vgchartz.com sales figures are utterly fictional.
Saint-Revlot  +   1382d ago
I saw it was Vgchartz.com and didn't even bother...
gamesaregood  +   1382d ago
Hahaha you got in before me, I was about to say vgcrap why even bother?? lol

Great minds. :)
trounbyfire  +   1382d ago
come on guy we all know that VGchartz are not the most accurate but we can still use the numbers they provide as a gauge of success.

i stop going to vgchartz when the changed the website to what it is now and then they say " hey we got ps3 and 360 numbers confused" that was the straw the broke the camels back for me.

having said that we can still use the number to get a sense of sales rather its spot on or not.

lets stop this vgchartz hate on every single article they put out. we all know the numbers are not exact but approximated.
trounbyfire  +   1382d ago
right so on every VGchartz article lets just bash them to get agrees OR we could see that VGchartz says a game sold 1.5 million copies in its first week and then we can approximate that game probably sold over 1 million copies.

its not exact, which i never said ther were, but we can use them to get an idea of sales

i mean how many times are we going to give agrees to the "fake" every time we see VGchartz
moparful99  +   1382d ago
Vgchartz credibility aside if gt5 really has sold at least 2 million in 1 week then thats incredible.. I can't wait to see what a month of sales will do for the numbers... Like I said a month ago gt5 will sell at least 5 million before the year is out..

Yes.. Let's believe the inaccuracy and bullshit that is VGCharts, wait.. No, let's not.
trounbyfire  +   1382d ago
I never said believe i said we can use the numbers to get a sense of what the sales are.

if they say a game sales 1.5 million in the first week it probably sold more than a million in that week
Masterchef2007  +   1382d ago
VG charts is a fanboys paradise for those who believe in false numbers. Ok i know they are just estimates but they are always way off.
trounbyfire  +   1382d ago
but it gives us a starting place.
wouldn't you agree that if they said a game sold 5.6 million in one week that the game actually sold at least 4 million

i am saying let use the number to for a lack of a better word guess the success of the games

I understood you the first time. Lol I always used vgcharts as a estimate for sales on anything. Since they are the first with numbers sometimes I just think of it as a ball park figure. Would I be a fan boy if I said it's not too hard to believe that GT5 would sell 2 million? I mean I been waiting for this for so long. I'm more Of a fighter Gamer but GT5 is the only thing that can keep me away from those games for long periods of time. Lol

Filed under "rumor", right where it should be IMO. That way people are not misled, etc. Took way too long though. This guy should work for da Fox newz.

sleepy3  +   1381d ago
Not bad. On its way to be the best selling exclusive on the PS3. Doubt it will be best selling overall on PS3 though, the PS3 version of CoD is a BEAST

it's really not even a guage!
they claim world wide tracking data as part of the public service they are providing, but here is the thing they cannot track world wide so why claim it, if they cannot do it?

I realize it's a free service, and I think is a great goal for them to strive for, but i think someone's ego over there got the best of him.

look i think its a guide but i also think its only a guide for areas but not as a whole. there is just too many thing's that cannot be accounted for on a world wide scale, that it would be quite a logistic's nightmare.

i give VGchartz the prop's for trying, but i do not give prop's for claiming something they know d@rn well they cannot do.
