ARS: From behind, late in the race: a racing fan reviews Gran Turismo 5

ARS: After six years and a huge budget... still unpolished.

Polyphony will remedy some of these bugs and flaws with patches, but the other issues are likely here to stay. Ultimately, GT5 does a lot of things right, and I’m looking forward to spending many an hour in its company, but there's no getting away from the feeling that this was a project that got away from itself.

Fans of the series will still claim this is as good as it gets, but the problems and limitations of the game are inexcusable considering how much time and money was spent trying to get it right.

Verdict: Rent

Lol I like Forza and Gt, in general i love racing games more than any other but this quote just sums up how much BS this guy is spraying from his mouth.
1. WTF is the differences between Porche and RUF cars?
2. GT has more licences than any other racing game. I also love how he only gives one example of a licence that GT doesnt have.
However he does have some good points to make about the cons of the game in his round up.

Still QQing I see... ARS isn't really known to be biased. They are one of the most well respected sites out there.

Then you guys either haven't been around long or don't pay much attention.

Ars Technica is a great website.

OT: From the website:

The Good
•The premium cars are gorgeous
•Online play with up to 16 players
•Dynamic weather, day-into-night racing
•The Nurburgring Nordschleife is great

The Bad
•800 cars just copied over from previous games
•Clunky interface
•Collisions still aren't right
•AI still not good enough
•In a game that's about cars, making the majority of them lower-quality models without interiors is ridiculous
•The shadows look terrible

The Ugly
•The way damage is rendered on standard cars
•Getting knocked out of the Top Gear challenge for the seventh time
•You'll often ask yourself what the hell they've been doing for six years

Have to chime in... ARS is a great site. They seem to confirm the prevailing critical reception to this release....

Arstech has been around for a while now and are one of the most highly respected tech sites on the net.

I love their forums and the ones I check daily are: Macintoshian Achaia, Battlefront, Gaming, Extra Strength Caplets(similar to NeoGAF but with less 12yr olds)

...and not a word about how the cars handle.. gameplay.. etc etc.

all he did was talk about menu, cars numbers, online, how he had to download updates - for his game and his steering wheel and HOW LONG IT TOOK over and over again!!!

ARS is a very respected site. It's just not your first choice for gaming news/reviews. They are primarily a technology website.

Gaming has become so popular now though that everyone from la times, daily news and ars wants to review games.

Can any one tell me what ARS knows about cars? but give credit where it is due, these guys are very good with the tech side of life.

Didn't seem to be a very compotent review. Talked very little on the game and failed to give praise where it was due whilst ensuring to point out every flaw.

Also, it's ignorant and unfair to review a game respective to it's development time. Which was what was done, even in the closing comments.
