Apple has been granted a patent for a projection system that can enable multiple viewers to simultaneously view 3D images without the need for those dorky 3D glasses.
Sounds like cost is something that they're taking into consideration too. Wonder when we'll see a working consumer model with this tech. I'd like to see this "hologram" stuff that Sony is working on as well. It will be interesting to see what sort of sets we're using in a decade. Seems like everything is headed toward 3D/ semi-holographic/ user-interactive screens (read the patent for more info, it's neat). Anywhere from 30-50 years away from a holodeck, I reckon! :) Depends how fast consumers fuel the market for this stuff. The tech is already falling into place.
