Sony Ericsson and SCE have 'radically different approaches'
Omg for a second i thought this was a Pachter prediction. Sony wouldnt do it, if it could hurt them!
I think they just want a piece of the App-pie =P
You mean Goog-pie..since they are using Android...the new symbian ;) (as in..the new dominant phone OS).
More sold PSP games so naa
if its sony ericsson its pretty much dead
I like Sony Ericsson phones and so do a lot of others >.>
The new Xperias are OK, but they seem to be getting Android updates seriously late. Sony Ericsson have been out of the phone game for at least a generation, at least they've finally dumped Symbian.
i dont think so
Its pretty pointless if they just take a generic phone and combine it with a psp. I mean the psp is already considered obsolete tech by todays cell phone standards. 4g is soon to be mainstream, and the psp2 is obviously in the making considering the psp has been around for almost a decade.
PSP games are still the best looking on any mobile platform. Combine the PSP games, with Android/XMB operating system. In a clever way and you have a hit. Most new phones either have a 1GHZ or 800MHZ which is above the PSP. Sony should do the clever thing, release the PSP2... which is a 1.2/4GHZ 4.3 inch touch screen phone, with two analogues for slide down, why is this wise? Well... the touch screen allow it to be FULLY android compatible, which would drastically increase the softwere from day one... the super powerful processor would allow a PSP and PSP2 games to run well... No UMD have a 64GB built in and a expansion slot. And release it for the same price as a normal phone, they'd be lucky if they'd have enough stock for review purposes.
im sorry but the PSP games are not the best looking anymore at all. The new stuff on the iphone from ID and Epic and other devs is better looking than the PSP stuff (as it should be as the hardware is way way newer and has better specs).
"Sony should do the clever thing, release the PSP2... which is a 1.2/4GHZ 4.3 inch touch screen phone, with two analogues for slide down, why is this wise? " Its because they are having to do a hardware revision to deal with overheating issues. Rumor is, its not gonna have a slide out screen. Oh well I think its just a gimmick unless they plan on adding some kinda keyboard support which a little blutooth one could fit around like the official ps dualshock keyboard.
@Mrv321 Spot on, the combination of android and the psn makes it more appealing than any of its competition. People DO NOT want to spend $300 on a new handheld for some AA and upped poly counts, people will pay that for an android device.
"if they just take a generic phone and combine it with a psp" Dont know what you mean by a "generic" phone. I expect it to be very competitive as a standalone phone, with PSP compatibility. It wouldnt make sense otherwise.
I think he means is how much "Playstation" will be in the PSPhone. Its already running on android, has Sony Ericcsson branding, but fit into the shell of a PSP. It'll play games, but how advanced? Full fledged psp games maybe? Minis? Theres the dpad, the x,o buttons etc. Sony Ericcsson has always been a somewhat low end brand, if this thing is an attempt at high end consumer product that can bridge the gap between Games and smartphones it may be a perfect fit, but will it even be related to Playstation then
i think it will, i assume sony ericcson have the playstation brand to use on their PSPhone so why not go all out?
If psp2 uses a 3rd party os how long before it gets jailbroken?, remember android has custom roms released
Its funny how people on that site still think the psphone and the psp2 will be related and or the same delusional people
Because you know better right?
You should too weve already seen the physical phone and the physical psp 2 and they are completely different thats enough
Mobile phones and handhelds are two separate markets. The PSP is for hardcore gaming. Gaming on phones is for casuals.
that is true but it does not mean someone cant step in and change that think back 2 or three years ago, if someone said to you "describe cell phone gaming" would your answer be the same as it would be today?
I still think the PSP Phone is fake. Sony have already made a phone. Its called the Sony Ericsson, so why do they need to make another?
Sony Ericsson is the name of the phone division but its not an actual phone
sony ericcson is a division of sony, like sony playstion sony ericcson make tons of phones but their popularity has weaved recently so a PSPhone, a device that has been rumoured for years would certainly garner interest, add android OS and you have instant interest from android fans
I like my phone just fine. If Sony wants to compete against Android, they're going to lose big time. However if Sony adopts Android and incorporates that with their PSP Library, then that might be a recipe for win?
I think that the invite in the article image is a fake. Sony wouldnt line the phone icon up with the X, circle, square and triangle buttons. They'd put it with the photo, music and video icons.
Don't be stupid dude, they're going after iPhone, so they'll both win (Ericson and Sony computer entertaiment).
Lmfao, why would I want a phone from sony when it'll probably cost a fortune on release day, have no apps, and probably just get features removed when someone jail breaks it. Sorry I'll stick with my iphone.
android OS = thousand of apps on day one price = expect carriers to sell it for 199 or 249 on a 2 year contract features being removed? it happened on the PS3 yes but i doubt it will happen here your iphone has no buttons, thats enough reason alone to look elsewhere for cell phone gaming
