Wired: I'm a gamer. So of course, nobody ever buys me any videogames for Christmas.
Why would they? Gamers don't wait around for people to buy us videogames; we go to the store and buy the ones we want the day they come out. And even if there were games we wish people would buy for us, it would be a fool's errand for someone outside the hobby to try to select the right game. Inevitably, we already purchased it or rented it — or just plain don't want it.
You could just ask us what we want, but then where's the surprise? But you're still trying to find something videogame-related for the gamer in your life, or else why would you be here?
You're very brave. We're going to try to help.
