Gamer.no: Gran Turismo 5 perfects in many ways the good old Gran Turismo feeling, but proves a little disappointing again.
My wife scored me a 7 last night :( well it's better than a 4 :) No Ambien before sex. Off topic I know but it seems to be ok on N4G lately. Besides aren't you guys a little tired of the war?
What's a "Wife"? Is that like Wi Fi?
LOL ^ I see what you did there. And what war? I just see a bunch of fanboys approving a bunch of GT5 reviews that are under 8.
Since they don't want to be bothered to play it for more than 5 hours and unlock at least level 10 or higher, they'll just make up some random, arbitrary reasons why the game is a "disappointment", and then give it the same score that some other hack-ass reviewer did -- and for many of the same lazy-ass reasons as well (7 seems to be a common score here). Shit reviews like this make me want the game even more, because the actual commentary from people who have played the game as it is intended to be played, and have invested more than a few hours and levels into it, can attest that YES, GT:5 lives up to the hype.
"Since they don't want to be bothered to play it for more than 5 hours and unlock at least level 10 or higher" I'm sorry but, that doesn't really help GT5 now does it?
I see a bunch of articles being approved for 10's from nonsense sites. So it goes both ways. If we accept the 10's from blogs(which i personally hate blogs, they ruin real journalism)we have to accept the 7's.
Oh nvm - thought this was a dupe but not. r.
@Armyntt Blogs ruin journalism and other sites like IGN don't?
I do not agree with everything IGN says or does but maybe im just naive but i do believe IGN is not some evil entity who goes to the highest bidder. I also think they have the gamers in mind with their pieces.
I guess Wi Fi is kinda like a wife there's a NAT error when trying to communicate.
For every GT5 review that comes to this site. All you have to do is press "Ctrl+F" with the keywords: AI or damage. You'll automatically realize who's playing the game and who isn't. For example, this particular review: "Besides the visible damage so small that they might as well be dropped altogether. You can slam into a barrier at 200km / h, without resulting in more than a marginal bias in the bumper." There you go. Another idiot who got trolled by Kaz. -End of Line
thorough professional review /s /poo
And yet the last paragraph says this: "Especially sad is that the game is unable to convey either collisions or damage to any acceptable manner." How professional can it be when it hasn't properly reviewed the damage that occurs at higher levels, which has been proven via videos and player accounts on this site? I beg to differ on the term 'professional'. Edit - Lol at the disagree's. How about post why you disagree since its evident that this review isn't complete.
i disagreed simply because i shouldn't need to be a level 40 for damage, i should be able to "receive" damage the min after i install the game. gran turismo prides itself on realism, but in real life trust me, whether i'm a driver of over 15 yrs, or a new driver of one year we both have a wreck guess what we both have DAMAGE! i can't say well im sorry dude im only level 39 so i don't get damage, but you, you are level 40 so i am sorry your car is totaled, but mine is still perfect. lol wouldn't the insurance rates go through the roof at level 40! hahahahaha
@LilMissGoddess I could only imagine the complaints people would field over this game if they suffered damage the minute they installed the game and couldn't afford to fix their new car before the next race. We'd see a rash of ... "omfg I cant drive cause imz not l33tz and [email protected]
Why do you want damage? What would it actually change? If your a good driver and don't want to be babysat than just speed through the first couple of licenses and you will get to level 20 in no time. If you are a noob driver than just put your ass down and learn to drive without crashing so that your ready for when damage will ruin your race don't worry about damage yet its not burnout. Level 10 -Slight Cosmetic Damage -Damage is magically repaired after a race Level 20 -Stronger Cosmetic Damage -Slight Mechanical Damage -You have to pay for repairs Level 40 -Realistic Damage -You have to pay for repairs I am scared of reaching level 20 and having to pay for damage apparently it can cost a virtual fortune for the expensive cars to be repaired.
LilMis, In real life, you get badly hurt by just one bullet and first aid kits don't fully restore your health in a matter of minutes.
sorry twoface i play real shooters not call of dookie, yea a bullet i the face on GRAW or rainbow six does mean death If your a good driver and don't want to be babysat than just speed through the first couple of licenses and you will get to level 20 in no time. If you are a noob driver than just put your ass down and learn to drive without crashing so that your ready for when damage will ruin your race don't worry about damage yet its not burnout. Level 10 -Slight Cosmetic Damage -Damage is magically repaired after a race Level 20 -Stronger Cosmetic Damage -Slight Mechanical Damage -You have to pay for repairs Level 40 -Realistic Damage -You have to pay for repairs hahhahahahahahhahahhah obviously you can't read there again level 40 "for REAL damage"
What do you mean I can't read I wrote that myself... But its level 20 before you have to pay for repairs and your engine starts messing up.
It's like a battle of reviews! Flurry of 9s followed by 7s. N4G contributors working real hard.
Indeed, but is good, multiple accounts of haters of GT5 are collaborating, submitting and commenting only in GT5 articles. N4G is dominated by Gran Turismo 5, thanks to the collaboration of the Haters. Black Ops, the weekly fake sales charts, Kinect are in the shadows because of GT5.
Lol at the people who said GT5 would be overshadowed by Kinect. GT5 is getting average reviews and there are still lodes more articles about GT5 features than there are articles about Kinect.
@Guntrol Since that's the way to calculate how much one thing is overshadowing another: The number of articles it gets on N4G.
A review like this makes me want to play it more where ps3 based reviews give it near perfect score are selling a product still waiting for my bravia promo copy in the mail.
This game can be scored in two ways, as far as I have seen..... 7/10 ~ 8/10 according to people with overhyped expectations. 9/10 ~ 10/10 for people that kept both feets on the ground. That is what's truly happening.
OR maybe the 7s and 8s are honest reviews while the 9.9s are from PS3 fanboy sites. Most of the high scores I have seen are from sites that have names like psxextreme, ps3insiders and stuff like that.
OR MAYBE?! 7/8 people who didn't enjoy the game as much as the ones that gave 9's and 10/10? could it be!?!? =O its GT5...you either LOVE IT, or enjoy it (i doubt anyone can hate it) its been this way since GT4, and will continue until the end of times. GT5 will never cater to EVERYONE, it will always be a divided game that caters to a very specific crowd: its fans. these games don't always get equal reviews, instead uneven random ones depending on the reviewer.
Last paragraph of the review includes the sentence: "Especially sad is that the game is unable to convey either collisions or damage to any acceptable manner." Take it for what its worth, not much.
I didn't even bother clicking but good example of a mistake in the review
Another reviewer that never got past level 10. Drive a Ferrari 458 on Cape Ring and you'll see why this is the best racing game in the past decade.
I would expect you to say that. You are one of the biggest fanatics I have ever seen. You probably have your PS3 on an altar in a shrine. When are fanatics like you going to start blowing yourselves up in front of the offices of game magazines that give your sacred PS3 games lower scores than you think they deserve? It won't surprise me if I see it on the news tomorrow.
