Gamestyle | Gran Turismo 5

Gamestyle: While Gamestyle loves the on track handling, the pursuit of new vehicles and driving excellence, Gran Turismo 5 fails to achieve its goals or address its bad habits. Full of distractions and pretty eye candy, beneath the bonnet, the chassis is in serious need of attention.

Looks like the more late the reviews are, the better appreciation of the game.

Early reviews are too early, late reviews are too late. They need to find the perfect balance to review Gran Turismo 5. Only the 9+ reviews were able to find this balance.

What a stupid reviewer.

He doesn't once name the Special Races, A-Spec and B-Spec, and doesn't even bother to explain what the Licenses are and how they work. He doesn't even talk about Used cars at all he doesn't mention the difference between Standard and Premium cars.

Lame! Lame! Lame!

Quote:"AI opponents will huddle together waiting on you to overtake them, seemingly not concerned by the need to improve their own position."

Oh really Mr GameStyle.com? Have you tried leveling up a bit or is the AI on the beginners races too easy for you?

"It’s a poor piece of design, clearly aimed at enthusiasts with a decent level of car knowledge and blatantly ignoring newcomers."

So just because the reviewer knows nothing about cars he rates it down?

Ignorance at its max.

GT5 is for car enthusiasts who would know what car companies are from Japan Europe or USA not for casual gamers who don't know what horse power is and if he bothered he would realize races with restrictions give you lists of cars that you COULD go and buy so you don't have to guess you idiot.

@ Guntrol

Absolutely. It's nice to see one developer that doesn't whore out to the casual base. There's a level of gamer that some of us belong too that want the hardcore experience that IS Gran Turismo. For me, it's almost like a drug that I can customise a Nissan Skyline R34 as I like and adjust the camber angle of a tire 0.2 degrees should I choose. God bless Polyphony Digital for keeping GT5 what it is: a great core driving experience with all of the details necessary. I have standards, and whoring to casuals would be far below them. PD meets my standards wholly with this great game. I will enjoy it for a long time to come.

LOL, you're searching the net for all of the low rated reviews from no-name sites and posting them. Sheesh, N4TROLLG.

"More annoying is the AI, which we like to call ‘rubber banding’, where a good drive may have you finishing in third but a perfect race will be needed to reach the leader."

Excuse me but what? I haven't experienced any form of rubber banding in this game. I can always have myself getting 5 or 6 seconds before the next opponent finishes his race if I drive carefully. What a lying tool.

Actually the reviews coming in at this time wouldn't be considered late actually. It's good first to get the deepness and feel of the game before you actually bash it.
Like how some reviews have been saying how GT 5's damage model doesn't really work and how it looks like a gimmick...just a day ago, someone showed a video of what damage (impressive indeed) looks like when you hit level 40..

rdgneoz32552d ago

But most of the reviewers haven't hit 40 at all. And in this review, I'm curious if they did just the beginner courses only.
"AI opponents will huddle together waiting on you to overtake them, seemingly not concerned by the need to improve their own position." As you go through the tiers, the AI improves a lot, they'll use slipstream to pass you and block your ass from passing. And its not really rubber band AI, its just that the AI doesn't make shitty mistakes so you can easily win, you actually have to try and not screw up or else you'll be restarting the race.

And then you have people that don't know the difference between a racing sim and arcade racer, or hope that the sim is more like an arcade racer. "The fun at times during racing comes from trying to beat your own lap times and improving corner techniques. To many players this isn’t what a racing game should be about; the thrill of victory or fiendish overtaking move is lost in this slick controlled environment."

Couldn't have put it any better myself. These guys reviewing GT 5 are just impatient and only scratch the surface...something tells me they've only done like 15-20% of the entire game.
