Evidence Sony Prepping Touch Panel for PSP2

While it is pretty certain that Sony are creating a PlayStation Portable 2, most likely for 2011, what the handheld will actually look like, and how people will interact with it, is unknown. Now, PlayStation LifeStyle has uncovered strong evidence that the PSP2 will have not one, but two, touch interfaces - reinventing how we interact with touchscreen devices.

I can't wait to get my hands on this bad boy. I'll touch it all over. :D

doctorstrange2704d ago

Yeah, I'm totally intrigued to see how they'll pull this off. PSP2 FTW!

ABizzel12704d ago

It's sounds weird, and I can't see how we'll play games by using the back of it as a touch screen, but we'll have to wait and see.

Pure ideas' win!
Sony is always pioneer in inventing new revolutionary technologies and groundbreaking methods!
Sadly Sony puts too much time to study them and they quickly get copied before even getting released and those thieves will launch unfinished inferior products that will get a monumental commercial succes and will claim that they were the first to bring it to the market! What a shame! :(
Sony must learn to never leak any news about their future plans until they get their devices ready to be shown to the media like the 3DS and GTA games: only a last minute show!

I must admit I am excited, but I hope they only use this technology for web surfing, picture and video viewing, and other non-gaming related categories. Physical buttons are much superior for gaming.

Also, I don't want iPad functionality in my PSP2! I want a hardcore gaming system!

However, Sony has always been hardcore, and I have the utmost faith in them making a sick-ass portable gaming platform!

I totally agree with you mmPete and I thought about the same thing: omitting the legendary X,O,□,∆ buttons will clearly harm the gaming experience and make it "naked" and non epic:just a random mobile game, but don't worry, the leaked PSP2 prototype still has the worlwide loved buttons! :)

lol, his knuckles are on his palm.

Okay, but please don't use it for non-streamlined uses like the DS so often has. If it's used in a game, let it make sense and improve the game, not be a bald-faced gimmick.

Hmm, wonder what happens if you lick it.

Vague first sentence that isn't positive regarding Sony?
*licks disagree button repeatedly*

JonnyBigBoss2704d ago

ANNOUNCE it already. I'm not a handheld guy but I need a PSP2.

DaTruth2703d ago

Announcing it won't put it in your hands. I say, just build it and release it!

doctorstrange2704d ago

It really depends how multimedia orientated the PSP2 is, it has to have apps as well

rrw2704d ago

with PSP phone defeat iphone. sony defeat apple in handheld product. (let computer industry alone, that MS problem)

Sev2704d ago

I think Sony doesn't have a choice but to try and compete with Apple.

Teddybee2704d ago

Apple and Sony will really be the big two handheld fighters over the next decade

Millah2704d ago

I really hope it isn't an "iPad killer." I don't want a tablet device from them. I want a handheld GAMING system. A no compromise, very advanced gaming machine. Sure it will have multimedia features, the PSP does too, but I don't want that to be the focus and gaming to be an afterthought.

sold on the track pad idea yet.

Will have to wait until Sony describes its intended purpose.

I personally can't wait for 2011 to start.
