Electronic Arts confirms that Mercs 2 will miss its 2007 release

Electronic Arts has today announced that Mercenaries 2: World in Flames will be launched during 2008, missing a planned '2007' release stated in a E3 2006 fact sheet from developers, Pandemic Studios.

In a statement to TVG, a UK representative at EA confirmed that whilst an exact date hadn't been finalised, "[we] can confirm it will be next year." The Christmas season is already looking congested, so perhaps it was inevitable that even some of the high-profile titles (like Mercs 2) would be pushed back to 2008.

This was going to replace GTA for me this winter. No sandbox games at all then? Well, Bully: scholarship edition? But I don't have a Wii or 360

EDIT: @lebaneseprince1:

Good point. Though I was looking forward to blowing up oil rigs, which I don't think you can do in AC. Well, you never know, actually, what with all the rumours flying around..

you can't call in carpet bomb strikes and hijack a helicopter with a grappeling hook in Assassins :(

oh well, it was gonna be my sandbox fix too, liked the first Mercs game better then GTA . it is good to see Pandemic Studios delay the game, they wouldnt delay it unless necessary and since they and Bioware are self-financed in their projects, they make the call on the game. If this was an EA owned studio, i bet the game would get the EA rush out and not as good as it could be.

shame, Mercenaries 2 was going to be my GTA fix this fall.

Hopefully Mercenaries 2 will be released early 2008. Mercenaries was an amazing and came out at the perfect time (post christmas lull)

looks like the same things happening with Mercs 2 lol. maybe we all should look at this as a good thing for gamer's mental sanity :P. this fall has lost 2 big titles, GTA 4 and Mercs 2, and the release list is still so full it might actually be a positive they are delayed, cause now next spring doesnt look like a huge drought

Only game I'm willing to buy from EA is FIFA, so I could care less about another crappy ass port.

I'll be fine playing UT3 and Haze through the holidays though...

More games going on the delay list, next year is going to a very busy year for gamers. It will be very busy compared to this year if you look at the number of games that have been pushed back and the unannounced titles.
