Microsoft Selling Age of Empires III Complete Collection For $0.10
That Gaming Site writes: "Microsoft is selling the Age of Empires III Collection for 10 Microsoft Points ($0.10) through the Games for Windows Live Marketplace as a Daily Deal promotion."
(Age of Empires III: Complete Collection, PC)
I bought it and I downloaded it and now I'm trying to install it, and it got to ~40% and then asked for an activation key. Ok, fine, so I go to my Games for Windows Live Marketplace to retrieve the key, I click "View Game Keys", it says "No Keys Assigned" and I can't activate the game.
What a bunch of crap.
Now I have to contact Microsoft technical support or something. So inconvenient. I didn't even really want to play the game but I figured for 10 cents I might as well get it.
Same problem. I might call tech support and see if they can sort this out.
This just in from the tech support forums:
Due to the overwhelming success of the Age of Empires III sale, we have temporarily run out of keys to unlock the game. You can still buy the game at this amazing price and you will get/see a key in the next week. When new keys are added to the system you will be auto-assigned a key, there is no need to call support or take any other action from your end. We will post here on the forums when the keys are available and the next time you click 'View Game Keys' for the game you should be assigned one.
Thank you for your patience and we hope you enjoy the game.
Thanks for the update Beefstew! I was just about to contact Tech support myself (didn't get around to it when the problem first popped up for me). You saved me some trouble. I'll just try again in the middle of the week or next weekend.
It's sarcasm, I was taking the role of a PS3 fanboy.
Also your "no comment" was a comment, so when you said you had no comment you were acctualy lying because the very act of you saying "no comment" is in acctuality a....alright I'll shut-up now.
Speaking of which, I wonder if it'll pay off for them though, the point is largely to get people interested in the service and other deals. Hard to tell how many will stick around.
But at ten cents they'll likely have to sell quite a few to make up for bandwidth and such, if they even could.
Support forums have had that issue quoted and have a fix in the next few days.
They didn't expect as many people to buy the game as they did, and they ran out of CD Keys... get over it... you just bought a friggen FULL GAME PLUS 2 EXPANSIONS for ten cents...
This seems to be something that NO ONE would complain about (full game, 2 expansions for 10 cents) yet you find a way to be a little bitch about it. Sure, demand exceeded supply - just be thankful your purchase was fulfilled and not denied like it would have been in a brick and mortar.
I just bought it this morning, I never really got around to playong AoE3. I played the hell out of AoE2, and its nice to be back cuttin dat wood and foraging them bushes!
You're thinking of Xbox Live. Xbox Live is a humongous scam. All of the same capabilities are available via Games for Windows Live, from the same provider, for free. Xbox Live? Pay up.
I hope you know you could've used your credit card and have been charged ~11 cents with tax, instead of paying 5 dollars for the minimum number of points. But just sayin. :)
He meant he already had extra MS points due to the system the 360 uses. I am the same. I have had 160 points just sitting there for about 6 months so I just used 10 of them for this game.
I had the original and I just got this so I can get the expansions. This time I wont use any cheats to get through them though times lol. Good thing I forgot the cheats!
Age of Empires is an RTS in the vein of Warcraft, Command and Conquer, Halo Wars (made by the same dev), etc.
It's perhaps one of the few RTS franchises from the 90s that was able to remain relevant in a big way. Others either weren't supported much, are niche, or were over saturated with titles.
Bought with 10 spare MS points I had left on my old 360 account I cant use :). Well I had 100 but 10 points lighter now :p. The problem is one of my friends who got it hasn't been assigned a key with his download.
Just a note you may not get a Game Activation Key because of the sheer number of people who purchased the game. MS ran out of keys, but be patient you'll get one.

is this a MS scam?
they better fix it I didn't spend 10 cents for nothing!!!
(don't disagree till u have bought it or search on google)

What the hell does this have to do with PS3 fanboys?? Comments like that make you sound just as bad.

Microsoft made a good deal??
Damn, i should look out of my window, SNOOOWING!
hate that place and wish I never have to see it again
back on topic.
M$ is trying to get GFWL installed on more pc's. There's nothing wrong with that. It works. At least they'll see that cheap games = more customers.
MN was iced last night. Was quite a sight seeing cars trying to drive on the roads. Was like watching bowling balls in the bumper lanes...

such a baby.
i knew they were gonna fix the problem, when i said "they ripped us off 10 cents" lmfao, i REALLY didn't mean it...
There was a deleted one though but that was all it showed.
Ill pay you 10 cents, im not paying 10 dollars for 500 points Ill never use
gave me the option of using my points or credit card.
I have extra MS points because of the way you buy points, I'm forced into buying more than I need.
still they have a lot to do to improve the service to compete with Steam or even Impulse but progress is progress

might delete it and try re downloading
I grew up with RTSs such as Warcraft 1&2, C&C, Red Alert and (of course) Age of Empires 1&2.
AoE3 didn't feel like an AoE game to me at all. I simply went back to Age of Mythology after trying out AoE3 for a couple of hours.
Just my opinion, can't say I'd be a happy buyer so I'll stay away from this one.
