Kaz Hirai on PS3-exclusive content, multiplatform games, future gaming plans and more

In an interview with Japanese website ITMedia +D Games, Sony Computer Entertainment president Kaz Hirai has said that developers should focus their activity around the PS3 when making multi-platform games.

When asked about the increasing trend for companies to develop games for multiple platforms, Hirai said: "When you consider the cost of developing on today's platforms, I think it's a logical progression that they're all thinking of making their games cross-platform.

Sony is going to deliver.
They always do that's why the PS2 is still around because of good marketing strategies and game line ups.
Even now the PS2 even sells more than the Next Gen Consoles that's why Sony isn't too worried about what's going on with the PS3.
However with games like MGS4, Killzone 2, the Crytek project in the works, Project Offset, and so on it will put the PS3 back on top.
They're are even more secrets that we don't even know yet that they've been working on for 4-5 years still in the works of being released.
In the long term Sony will dominate this industry it just takes time and money which they have a lot of.
SONY RULES!!!!!!!!!!

.....did the PS2 outsell all the next gen consoles.

The Wii outsells the PS2 every month.

If that was the truth you would'nt have such a desperate need to proclaim it that harsh in your comment...

But if it makes you sleep better at night then keep telling yourself over and over and over again until nothing else gets into your system.

“There are probably people who think that, looking at the output of Worldwide Studios, there are fewer and fewer Japan-developed ‘Japanese style’ titles coming out. But we definitely don’t have the intention of just bringing Western games into Japan. We will keep on steadily releasing titles that are developed in Japan and designed to appeal to all Japanese users.”

This is really good to hear. Although I know Western games have really taken off the past few years it's good to know that the company is squarely committed to bring out more Japanese inspired games -- games that I loved playing growing up and will never grow tired of playin going forward.

I guess this really shows how young and new to gaming you really are. I started gaming in my late 20's, on the Atari 2600, Intellivision, Colecovision, Vectrex, Magnovox's Oddessy,... ect. Gaming was invented in this country. Nintendo, SEGA, and SONY came in on the 2nd Video Gaming Wave. Atari ruled the 1st, Sony won the 2nd, and,.... oh my... can Microsoft actually win the 3rd. Why is it so surprising that Western games sell well in the Western market? I truly believe that Japanese games sold so well here for the last wave because there was no real competition. Now there is! At last we have a real choice. Since I am not a 10 year old Asian kid, and have been paying for my entertainment for over 30 years, I appreciate having a choice.

I believe most people buy consoles to play games. Today. Not next year, or a couple of years. Today! For the first time in over 10 years, Sony is watching developers make games for the largest market shares,.... and for once it is not Sony's PS3!!!!!!!! The sky is falling!!!!
