The original Xbox is celebrating it's 9th birthday. We take a look back and show you the best the system has to offer. Yeah I remember the good old original Xbox days, not everyone hated the system because it sat quite peacefully way behind the Playstation.

I hope the next Xbox doesn't get hated on nearly as much as the 360.

The original Xbox was such a good console. It had awesome graphics for its time, full of features, and it was reliable.

The 360 is a POS in comparison.

ah phantom dust. Best game I ever played (still playing it on the x360 thanks to BC). Wish they make a sequal one on the new console (pipe dream since it is not gonna happen). Dam you MS. They do make good new IPs, just many of them got over looked and shadow out by PS2.

Actually the original xbox is still up and running. It is a tank.

Stranger's Wrath.....Was totally overlooked,and under appreaciated by most.They had very little marketing push from EA.

I am happy people will get another chance to play it soon.A real gem all the way.

Happy Birthday Xbox. Man the good ole times. Xbox was just too expensive at the time and I still clung to my ps2. What got me to give it a chance was the HDD and custom soundtracks. I remembered all my friend use to play was gta on the ps2. I got so sick of seeing it I actually bought an Xbox and told him to play other games. Then he told me about a "Star Wars" rpg and how it looked so cool and I was like meh, a Star Wars rpg, you're kidding me, right? I have my jrpg's on my ps2. I bought Star Wars KoToR because it was a change of pace from gta and he was a big Star Wars fan. I created a character then saved and let him play it. Next day I sat down with my character and 16 hours later he had to pry the Xbox controller from my hands and I passed out on his couch. That and Ninja Gaiden. I can't forget Otogi as well. Funny thing is that I didn't REALLY get into Halo til Halo 3. I mean it was fun to check out the hacked maps of 1 and 2 but 3 did it for me.

I gave into the X and haven't looked back since.

Yeah, I played through the KOTOR campaign 11 times in total.

Kotor was a good-selling franchise as well. So, I wonder why Bioware and EA decided to fuck up any chance of Kotor 3 by making that Old Republic mmo.

Oh how I loved my xbox back in the day. That list pretty much sums up most of my favourite games on the console. The original Halo, Kotor, Jet Set Radio Future, Shenmue 2, Jade Empire, and many others I loved so much.

I enjoyed playing the handful of 720p games the Xbox had back then. Soul Caliber II looked gorgeous for the time! Freedom Fighters was kind of fun. It was a little ahead of it's time.

God, I remember when Splinter Cell came out and myself and my friend were going nuts over the lighting and shadows, lmao! I also remember waiting years for B.C. (Anyone remember that?).

Splinter Cell Chaos for the Xbox was one of the best looking game for consoles that generation bar none. Chronicles of Riddick followed with amazing graphics.
The Xbox was an ugly console but it was built solid and had a ton of features and amazing games. It just needed more 3rd party support.

Halo, DoA Xtreme Beach Volleyball, Munche's Oddysee, Stranger's Wrath, Armed and Dangerous, Serious Sam, Crimson Skies, Jet Set Radio Future... yeah, that was some awesome games exclusive to the system. I've personally found that the 360 has never compared, really, it's just not impressed me as much as XBOX did.

Aww...I just remembered about Unreal Championship 2, that game was all kind of awesome.

A great great console. I remember having this, a PS2 and a SNES all hooked up to a 32" CRT TV. It took up almost as much bedroom space as my Bed!

I'm considdering getting an orginal xbox with a modded 500gb HDD and buying all the games for it. Playing xbox 1 games on 360 is not quite as good as some of them are slow to load and a bit buggy.

I actually thought the xbox was a good looking piece of hardware.What I did'nt like too much was the huge controller.I remember getting it the day it came out along with Halo Doa3 and project gotham.Some of the most amazing graphics,games such as riddick and doom3.

th original xbox was a nice piece of hardware for its time had nice graphics and lots of features but it really lacked in the games department compared to the ps2 but still i give props
