Five Reasons PlayStation 3 Will Outsell Xbox 360 (RunDLC)

Sony has made up a ton of ground on Microsoft, as the PlayStation 3 continues to close the gap on the Xbox 360. This, despite Halo: Reach, a redesigned console and of course, the “revolutionary” Kinect sensor that allows for hands-free gaming.

With this in mind, we expect a brutal holiday shopping season where PS3 emerges the undisputed winner. Here’s why.

The story is too old to be commented.

PS3 may or may not have one game this holiday season. It is yet to be confirmed.

The PS3 might pass 360 one day, but it is about to be creamed by the 360 this holiday season.

when it goes to the 1st place..and *new HD gen starts*

This gen is running out sooner than fangurls think

Not bad dreaming for the 2nd place tho. But it still fails with so many broken promises, broken hearts, butthurts as you can see on Disagree stats below:

The PS3 will reach PS2 lifetime numbers.

42+ million already sold.
7 years of sales left.
On track to sell 15 million in Sony's current fiscal year while still at 300 dollars.
The PS2 sold for five years an average of 20 million a year when it dropped to 200 dollars.
The 10 year old PS2 is selling around 6 million in 2010 - almost outselling the 360.

It's just basic math.

The PS3 will end up in the 120-140 million lifetime sales.

Unless Nintendo doesn't come out with new hardware and miraculously finds a way to extend the Wii's life the PS3 is going to end up 1st this gen by a huge margin.

"This gen is running out sooner than fangurls think"

Keep telling yourself that.

The only unknown is Nintendo. Nintendo doesn't support their old consoles when they release new ones. So if Nintendo announces new hardware at the next E3, Wii sales are going to plummet and most likely never reach 100 million. If Nintendo doesn't reveal new hardware it remains to be see if price cuts can reverse the tremendous drop in sales the Wii has been going through. The PS3 is outselling the Wii in Japan 2 to 1 right now.

The PS3 has outsold the 360 by around 2.5-3 million or so consoles just in 2010 while still being 100 dollar more expensive. Microsoft using shipment number instead of actual 360 sales and vgchartz's fake sales numbers isn't going to keep the 360 out of last place for much longer.

Reach and Fable are already out and are not holiday titles.
Kinect is not even a game.

"as the PlayStation 3 continues to close the gap on the Xbox 360."

This statement is really getting old and annoying now. How about make an article when it actually happens, instead of posting this same line every 3-6 months over the course of 2-3 years.

ShinMaster2950d ago

That's because the statement is true and it hurts you guys each time you're reminded of it.

It CONTINUES to close the gap. You can just close your eyes until it does, and read that news...but its still factually correct.

Stop crying, theres a few months to go. You can still enjoy your second place party until then.

GT5 will help, but PS3 still has a ways to go.

ingiomar2950d ago

i hope this gives the ps3 fanboys out there some hope.

Less than 500,000 sales in between,

GT5 on the horizon,

Kinect will get into the hands of the hardcore,

Move will get into the hands of the hardcore,

Exclusive games rival CG,

Again, I wouldn't say it's a slam-dunk this x-mas, but if trends persist, it's inevitable.
