Does the latest Call of Duty pass muster?
Good review as always from the site. I thought this one was pretty good but not exactly 9+ calibre.
Nice to see that Treyarch is on the right track even if they didn't quite nail it yet.
A Call of Duty that didn't get a 9.0?? *breaks out the popcorn.
Well, it is a Treyarch CoD...
I look forward to playing this one...maybe next year. I'm good on shooters for a while.
Spot on score...
I think the score is a little high - I'd give it a 7.5/10. Ive never been a CoD hater and unlike most on this site i actually enjoyed MW2 (admitedly it had problems) and still play it. I was so looking forward to BO cuz it seemed like MW2 minus the bs. Somehow the graphics are worse than MW2 (thought i'd never say that); the sounds are crap (the nades sound like popping balloons and guns like bb guns); spawns are messed up. I really like the wager modes but the poor hit detection/lag (for me anyway) makes them difficult to play, especially one in a chamber - i shoot my only bullet on the guy and it doesnt register!
I have the PS3 version and my main problems are the framedrops, lag, and random disconnects/connection interrupted. So annoying. Almost makes me want to not play. I'll be doing great and halfway through a match and I get disconnected. It says migrating but that fails.
I like Black Ops, but it's still obvious to see that they can't compete with Infinity ward in certain areas. It's the small things like when you get a game winning kill cam with a killstreak, it just looks a bit rough on Black Ops , and weapon models look a bit basic.Infinity ward do better in these areas and their menus also look a lot nicer. It's the small things that adds a extra level of sheen to their games that Treyarch can't seem to match. But Black Ops has the gameplay and that's what matters at the end of the day, but I think they need to match Infinity ward in all areas before they can say they are on equal terms. Infinity ward may have screwed up with balance issues in MW2, but when they get it right they can make a awesome awesome game.
