Those 4GB will no doubt be worth it
dont care about installs, if anyone has a review build whats the screentearing like?
Good thing I recently installed a 750GB Hardrive in my PS tres.
yup ps3 gives users the freedom to install big hd's, ms chooses what you get/trash.
I just ordered a new hdd to upgrqade my launch euro 60 gig a second time. I thought 160 gigs would be plenty, but now I had to order a 320 gig one. That GT5 10 gig install made it a no brainer...
Exactly! As long as there is minimal to zero tearing. I bought 360 version of a AC2 because of the tearing.
I at first bought the PS3 version, then there were screen tearing issues as well as an inconsistent framerate that would drop as low as 10fps in some regions (like outside of flori). Plus it kept on freezing my ps3 after like 2 hours of gameplay. I traded it in for the 360 version and it was better.
weird that I didn't have such complaints... yeah some screentearing, but not gamebreaking bad... And some frameratedips... never got out of the atmosphere
That's old-school :O (the install that is)
time to get a new ps3,my gigs are running out
get a new HD...it's much, MUCH cheaper then a new PS3.
Yeah only pro's replace there HD instead.
Don't forget to ask GeekSquad to help you install that new harddrive *evil grin* lol, just joking.
I dont mind. Cant wait to play this :D
To this day, I still have no idea why we still have to have the disc on to run these games. And then you have games with stunning graphics like Uncharted 2 which take up like, 2 Mini's worth of space...
Uncharted 2 takes up a full 25 GB. That's really not that small; it barely fits on the disc. "First of all, we fill the Blu-ray 100 percent, we have no room left on this one. We have 25GB of data; we're using every single bit of it." -Christophe Balestra http://arstechnica.com/gami... The install is small, but a game like that is going to really work the Blu-ray drive pretty hard. Personally, I'd rather put the wear on a cheap HDD than a BD-ROM drive.
No, I meant harddrive install. If you have a look the install for these games are even BIGGER than the image file for the 360 version of the same game. It's just laziness, really. As long as you can install it and juggle about space, I guess it's okay.
Small price to pay
Gonna be a long two days...
U wanna lose bubbles? Your going the right way about it IMO.
It's two (actually 3) day till the game comes out...
lol people are so worried about someone bashing the PS3 they jump at someone's troat at the slightest hint of dislike towards their console. He was more than likely talking about the release date as stated above. Bunch of crybabies if you ask me.
OK. I misunderstood. I apologise.
Sounds about right, where is the threat of bubble raping to the guy who called the 360 a 3fixme? I call this site BULLSHIT full of bullshit fanboys I guess installing the this game will throw me back to my childhood "thinks of his old spectrum loading up with the multiple lines across the screen"
How could anyone misunderstand that comment...it was clearly about the release date! Gamers are so touchy nowadays...
like in the 360
320gb ps3 says who gives a crap lol
500gb ps3 says who gives a damn lmao
1TB Ps3 says what's that tickle? lol, jj, i still have my standard 80gb, need to upgrade soon
you can install a 1 TB drive but its not pretty,my buddy made me and him a chase to hold the 3.5 inch drive.Still waiting on a cheap 2.5 inch 1TB drive. To bad 1tb the max though wish we could use something bigger.Well at least we have the media server.
Good thing I wasted money on a 5TB hdd. Bring it on mandatory installs.
These sandbox games run better when pulling data straight off the hdd because the PS3 can access it quicker than taking it off the disc.
Not just PS3. A decent hard drive will always be faster. Do SSD's work in the PS3??
But from what I've read the difference is really negligible. The load times aren't much faster and it costs a lot more.
That was when SDD weren't all that much better... biggest problem is that SDD benefit from SATAII which is way faster than SATA. But ps3 doesn't support SATAII so you will be having the speeds of SATAI and therefore cutting performance in half. I stick with my Caviar Blue... its pretty fast and affordable...
Damn! good thing I have 500GB PS3
PC games, you need also install on the HDD it has nothing to do with the slow drive in the PC or PS3 that's allready proving. So, install is a good thing to make use of the HDD potantial for developers who has not the experience with Blu-Ray drive programming.
4 gig games, its the power of blu ray.
and it'll still look crappier than the 360 version =P
running off the head to heads, the shadowing and lighting are clearly better on the Xbox, which is a shame seeing how better looking multiplats like Castlevania look almost identical on both platforms.
That's not too bad, a little annoying but not the end of the world. IDK I think I might just go PC on this one, just picked up some extra ram.
If installing a game on my ps3 improves the games performance then i welcome it with open arms.
Since you don't have the option not to install
You've got a point there
that depends on how the game was made. Some games have an option of installing data onto the HDD to improve performance, some don't have the option. It's not like the Xbox 360 where you can install pretty much any entire disc based game to the HDD. I personally see this having faster load times in all games, plus it is quiet.
I can see why they don't allow you too install games on the PS3 hd, considering how cheap it is to upgrade a 60 or 120 gig every one would be passing round games and software sales would take one hell of a hit.
why after 4 years since the release of the PS3 we are still having to deal with these data installs. I understand it doesn't demand as much from the blu ray drive or that some devs don't quite know how to handle the PS3 so they do the installs to keep it on par with the 360, but come on, its ridiculous. I upgraded my original 60 gigs PS3 to 500 gig. I have 300 left. And frankly, I'm actually quite worried I will run out of space because I do play a hefty amount of PS3 games and most of them have this stupid mandatory data install except for first party titles. I know alot of people say oh you can just delete your old game data. But I actually go back to my old games as well. So everytime I delete it, I'll have to wait another 15 minutes just so the data can reinstall so I can play the game again. With the 360, you just put the game and go. The Blu-Ray drive was meant to read disc, so I don't understand why it just can't read straight from the disc.
ubisoft goes through the old school way running off the 360 build its like working with an old video card.
I hope you're not implying they have to base it on the Xbox's 'old' video card which is actually based on newer technology (even if it was made before).
both versions are the same so stop saying stupid things !! i played and finished the game in both consoles and i didn't see diffrent things so get real !!!! you guys fighting like if both versions have diffrent things !!!!
I dont mind the install just aslong as its on par with the 360 version this time. Will be waiting for the Lens of Truth verdict. This game will either be a happy PS3 purchase or a frustrated 360 rental!
Everyone should have a bigger HDD in their PS3 by now its so cheap and easy to do.
