Barely 2 weeks after the PSP Go dropped it’s price to just a little over the standard model PSP, Sony has gone even further in it’s attempts to shift the under performing handheld system with another price drop.
The cheaper it gets the more I consider buying one. At the very least it would be good as far as console collections go. An example of early attempts to move away from disc media. A little slice of game history.
I know people are going to disagree with me for this but... If they can get the PSP Go cracked I will certainly be interested in picking one up. Mostly for the emulator possibility's, and maybe the some PSP Jrpg's I can't find in the UK.
I'm confused, it just dropped like a month ago to $199. According to this site, it's still $199. So where's the price drop before?
It's really good, once you get one. Not having to carry all those UMD's around is nice, and having 16GB of space fromt he get go is great. It was dumb to not continue using Memory Stick Pro Duo so we can use the ones we already had. I got mine for $160 thanks to a price error in our news paper (it had the PSP GO listed as the same price as a PSP 3000).
ABizzel1 i would an wouldnt personaly gree with u n not. I have 2 PSP 3000. One for me an 1 for my wife or kids to play. Truely if Sony Focus on publisher to release DD i would be happy with multiplayer games. Pangya Is one of my fav game i loved. i pulled over 200 hours playing with solo. Sadly there still no DD version so i was force to buy another 1 that way i can enjoy with other. I have 3 16GB pro Duo. This was mainly for media DD games an my 2nd PSP. Over all i spend nearly 630$ for 2 PSP $ 3 Pro Duo. Now i need another one ... Black Friday has a bundle 130$ PSP at radio shack. If im not lazy i mite go get it.
The screens on the 3000s were heavily interlaced and kinda sucked. PSP Go had a beautiful, crystal, high contrast screen. I prefer either a 2000 or a Go; the portability and Bluetooth features of the latter are appealing.
These price drops are signs of a PSP2 announcement. VERY soon
The cheaper it gets the closer i think the PSP2 will be announced , i hope they dont cheapen it up cause of the resession, i have this feeling just to watch there backs, they wont go overboard like they did with the ps3 when the launch consoles cost sony $800 to build and they sold them for $600 ... Mine YLOD , i miss playing san andreas in HD and ffxii and half life 1.., it was fun' luckily it died right after it dropped to $400 and they gave me a full refund and i got me the new dual shock at the time and 2 games
If it turns out that the the PSP 2 is really the PSP phone then it could very well be a $400-600 device. The top end phones are already in that range, sometimes higher. You just don't normally see such a price as they are typically subsidized by the carriers and tied to a contract.
I like the concept of it, I just don't like the limited selection of games available and the fact the console and games cost more. I have no problem with buying PSP games, but the ideal set up for me would be to buy the game, get the custom firmware on PSP Go and then, funny enough, illegally download any games I bought, just to ensure I get them at a sensible price and can still play them.
Buying another PSP that I can't play my games on is seriously ignorant. If there were a way to play my existing library, I would give my PSP to my kid and buy a new PSP Go for myself. I'm leaning against paying more for digital downloads though. Kinda of a flawed business model from the get go. -Death
The Go is a trap you have to pay for overpriced games on PSN and you have no alternative. Do yourself a favor and buy the new God of war psp 3000 bundle and buy some insanely cheap games form gamestop. THANK GOODNESS FOR GAMESTOP
...PSN does not feature the same selection of games for the PSP I'd still buy the Go over the standard PSP any day of the week.
I'd get a Go if all the PS Store games they have available didn't suck. The only good ones they have I already own on UMD.
they need a umd transfer kit for the pspgo which has some kind of timed expiry security measure have no idea how it would work.
The could just lock the rips like PSN games which are activated for only one console... but then again doubt sony will bother with it...
Probably because the psp go is a failure.
It's all about 3DS at this point. Few more hot games on DS like Golden Sun: Dark Dawn, Mario vs. DK and of course Pokemon Black and White but it's 3DS from Spring out.
I can buy a Wii bundle(that comes with 2 games) for that price.
That's the price it should have launched at. Too little too late, put that thing out to pasture already.
I might pick one up later, but can anyone suggest some solid titles for the psp?
i bought a psp go a while ago, i prefer it over the 3000 by design. What i dont like is that digital download games are just as expensive, sometimes even more expensive than store bought that come with a case, cover art and manual. shouldn't having nothing but the download shave alittle off the price tag?
I've found that the prices on PSN are usually $10 cheaper, even for some AAA titles. That's in Canada, at least. Only thing I don't like is no resale of downloads. Would be nice if we could gift them to someone else's account (removes the item from our account and PSP, and transfers it to theirs)
Digital versions of PSP games on the PSN are about $5-10 cheaper across the board than their physical counterparts. I don't know where the fallacy has originated from that they cost more. They don't. At least not in Canada.
It’s almost at the price it should have been when it came out!!!
they are still trying to sell this thing lol, but even if they make it the same price u can still get a memory stick and download ur games to that and u dont lose a umd drive when u buy the psp-3000 so it was doomed to fail from the start
i'll consider it....my 4th gen iphone has way better games than 90% of the psp's collection and they cost 99 cents to $5...i would never pay $40 for some psp mini game....hell 90% of all games on all platforms are not worth more than $30 there are only a handful of games this gen i felt were worth my $50 or $60 oblivion(pc) starcraft 2 (pc) the witcher(pc) halo 3 (xbox360) at the time,....im over halo now resistance 1(ps3) uncharted 2 (ps3) STALKER (pc) hmmmm....running out for true value... i buy almost every game, but most of them suck....name a major release and i most likely have wasted 50-60 bucks on it. what can i say... i like those boxes.
im impressed by your ignorance
no i have a 3000 and games like crisis core and kingdom hearts make makes me feel sorry for the PSP go owners who will be missing out
im sorry but the game industry is not ready for digital download only content. If the psp2 or ps4 does not have a physical form of media to get games, downloads only they will fail.
no it just means do not try to force games made for a disc based medeum in to an app store bc it hard to get support just like the pspgo and it takes forever to download it to ur psp, and they suldnt put it up for The higher prices again
and it's a buy from me. Edit: Wth @ article... that's the original price drop--it went from 250$ to 199$, so where's the new price drop??
If it happens that my PSP-2000 breaks I would consider to replace it with a PSP-GO since most of my games that I bought are digital downloaded games. You know, PSP can suck battery power real quick and using UMD based games is even faster .That is why I preffer DL games. Problem is that my 16G memory stick I use on my 2000 model would not work on the PSP GO. Anyways it already has a 16G internal memory.
Some people prefer a compact, more mobile psp. It also has bluetooth with is a nice bonus.
when it drops too £99 in uk i may pick one up just for my ps1 games and the fair priced store games
I doubt it will ever drop that far, but for some reason that's about the same purchasing point i've set myself.
its a hundred and thirty pounds, im getting two, one for my son and one for my daughter, they come with ten free games as well, so 130 for go plus 10 good games, sounds like a steal to me. i have fiber optic so download no probs.
Screen is smaller, l1 and r1 are cheaply made and can't stay in place. Digital only is a draw back and plus, I hate trying to find a game if I can just get it on the psn. Plus side is it has bluetooth an works with ps3 controllers and a mic, so it has its ups and down, so it is all about if it is something you want.
The pspgo only dropped its price one time, its says in the article that it dropped 50 bucks to $200. Sony already stated that it was going to drop, nothing has changed there has only been one price drop. Read the article people
What are you talking about? As the article explains it's dropped twice...
The PSP Go is the best handheld gaming platform in existance... and will continue to be so until the 3DS shows up. Maybe after for a while even, since the 3DS library will take a while to build up. If you want one, you should buy one -- you won't regret it if you've never owned a PSP.
It will stay a failure unless the price hit the "one hundred mark".
So, PSP is totally out of the pucture for me
The only reason i'd even get one is because i think that Invizimals game looks really fun, lol.
Do urself a favor and buy the PSP 3000 holiday bundle that retailers are offering for $127-$129 on Black Friday. I also never liked the argument of carrying around UMDs. 1st off just exactly when do u need to carry many UMDs besides long trips in which case u have bag with u anyway. PSP 3000 is more flexible cause u can dl PSN games. memory sticks r much cheaper these days.
to sony fail is the fail just stop the psp go seem as u stopped ps3 fat and 120 , 250 slim in ur dream that i will buy pspgo my psp 1001,2000 it best choise the problem of psp go not just the price the problem on 4:3 screen , no UMD , PSN , not all PSP games release on psn , the price on psp games it the price of psn psp game ( psp games have disc , psn psp games just data ) from my point nothing make me intersting to buy psp go expect if they sell it by 79 dollars with garanty that all psp games can be downloaded
But its still a fine piece of hardware and i might get one if i can really hack the thing to play the games i want to play.
God of War Ghosts of Sparta looks pretty damn sweet as well, it actually made me consider getting a PSP just for that alone, with a price drop too, might be interested.
Get the GoW GoS bundle if you can stand the screen interlace issue present on all 3000 models. You'll have a GoW CoO digital voucher with it and 2 gb stick.. But if you are able to find a PSP Go going for 150 bucks. Then you might consider getting the Go if you are budget conscious and don't really care about Kingdom Hearts: BBS and FFVII: Crisis Core.
I see quite a number of people complain, wow that's the price of the PSPGo should have been.. But yet you also seem to hear people complain even further well im only going to get one when it hit's @ $99.00? To me that sound's like you never intended to get one anyway! the PSPGO come's with: 16 GB worth of storage blue tooth and upgraded Processor group..that's right Both processor's in the PSPGo are better MIPS core's than the one in the PSP 3000 or less, and to Top it off it run's games better Faster Ram and yet, to continue people complained about the UMD , when people still complained that UMD was no good since the first release of the PSP!. I think it's clear, Sony need's to give the PSP platform away and let the PSP games be distributed away for Free. no matter what Sony does the PSP platform will be seen as it's just not worth the Money no matter what an it never will be with many gamers it seems. if you have not purchased a PSP by now, most likely you never will unless you can pirate the games, at least be honest about it. just saying that's been my observation over the past 6 year's of the PSP platform's creation, this is not just about the PSPGo it's about the Whole PSP as a platform.
Is the system actually worth it? I mean i've never owned a psp, but some of the games i wouldnt mind trying.
the psp phone is coming soon...
It is not the price of the system that is keeping people away but the price of the games.
I know this is kinda ot but does anyone here remember a psp game named "10000 something". It was a 2d game in which you flew around cutting apart giant airships. I know this is a misuse of the system but bubbles to anyone who can point me in the right direction because i really want to play that game.
great stuff im going to pic up a psp go soon i already have a 3000 so thats great
