Video Game College - Harder Than You Would Think

Sounds easy right? Sounds like all you do is lay back, grab the controller, sink 16 hours into [insert game title here] and call it a day? Think again. Columbus State University has opened the doors of their video game department, and the students' initial reactions is that it's a whole lot of hard work.

Not only will you be required to put hours into a video game. You will also need to take an english and math class. .

The story is too old to be commented.

I actually thought it was very easy, you simply go there, register for your classes and just lay back and relax whiles doing the least work.

Interesting but predictable. They must learn to make games not to play them (Most already know that part).

ENNO4127d ago

Theres alot of math involved for the devs so if you aint good at it get good or get out as your only wasting your time!

I am in college for a bachalors in game design and all of my classmates are experiencing the same problems. Look you cant be an unsocial person working in the game design industry. You have to know how to write a paper based on a particular project, you have to be able to explain it well and you have to have the skills to make the actual game. It is NOT I repeat NOT an easy career. That being said, yes there are those few instances where you can play a game. But I'll leave you all with this thought someone said in my class:
"If you want your game to be spectacular, you'd better expect to spend 90% of the time fixing bugs and modding, and only 10% of that time playing it to make sure you fixed the bugs"
So really, enter at your own risk kiddies, its a fun ride, but if you don't have the ability to do more than PLAY a video game, chances are the industry won't want you.

anything in life 'worth' a big payoff or big accomplishment is 99% hard work. People thinking otherwise are in for a rude, rude awakening. Video Games are no different.

ed./ I think you meant 'bachelors'
