It seems that Call of Duty: Black Ops has upset the state run press on the island of Cuba. Apparently they didn’t take too kindly to the mission tasking you with assassinating their old head of state, Fidel Castro.
...that's our first amendment right. Freedom of Speech. Cuba can't do anything about it but get pissed off about it. They're no match for the good ol' US of A. And, also, it's just a game, not a real agenda.
Treyarch should send a mail to Cuban government saying; u mad?
If I had a dollar for every time someone said Freedom of Speech allowed you to say anything you wanted with no recourse I'd be rich! Look into the Miller test, libel laws, etc. Or, read this. http://en.wikipedia.org/wik...
I think the point that was truly trying to be made is that it wasn't the sole agenda of BO to slander Cuba in any way. It's that the times lent itself to creative licenses: that's it. How can Cuba still be butthurt after seeing the fact JFK, McNamara, Castro, and Nixon are fighting off zombies? No love?
COD is all fiction, I don't get why they would be mad. I don't see Japan getting mad for all these WW2 movies depicting them as ruthless savage killers in which most of it is probably true!
Wait so you mean they put that you can kill castro in the game cuz yet they couldnt kill him in real life after so many attempts xDDDDD.
Just think, if only we succeed in one of those 638 assassination attempts (check it up, most attempts per person).
"What the United States couldn’t accomplish in more than 50 years, they are now trying to do virtually,” lmao really we could have just dropped a nuke on the the whole damn country lol.
Yeah? Well then Russia would had done the same to us considering there BFF status at the time.
I bet the dirt poor over there deep down inside wouldn't mind being able to take shots at castro
They weren't doing much better under Batista, infact, Cuba was essentially in turmoil since the US occupation of the 1800s. No political leader before Batista was even able to complete an entire term in office, some were only in office for a few weeks before being overthrown. Under Castro, they seem to have been pretty stable and perhaps even prosperous to a certain extent. Tough to know 100% with the embargo and the impact it has had on the nation.
Let's be realistic here. The soul reason our government wanted to dethrone this dictator was the sole fact that he was succeeding in creating a comunist country in which totally demonstrated that it does not need in any way shape or form any economical trade with the US. That and the fact that they preferred to purchase Russian weapons is what made our government so butthurt.
and rightfully so. I personally don't like the fact that these companies make big cash from portraying specific countries as, well, whatever they can come up with in that point in time. may it be historical accurate or just pulled out of their asses. How would the American people feel if Vietnam made a video game? Russia, and their war with Afghanistan. Half of you kids don't know how America contributed to that war. America "ain't all that"... Freedom of Speech is right, lack of morals, doublish so. Like I give a shit about this game anyway. ugh
American gave weapons to the Afgahni's to fight off the Russians because of the cold war. Ironically, that strengthened what we know today as the Taliban. So I agree, the American government are a bunch of morons sometimes. But stop with the American hating attitude. Yes, America has done some dumb shiet, but guess what? The world isn't much better. All countries are guilty of doing bad things. Japan, Russia, Britain, France, etc. etc. It's the government of these countries that are the guilty ones. It's in the Human nature to kill ourselves it seems.
just to rake up the the notoriosity and in turn sales
big fucking deal. Cuba can suck it for all I care.
