Playing with Kinect: From the Box to the Game

The first thing that becomes immediately apparent when installing the Kinect device is just how much has been learnt from Wii. The product’s packaging is no longer designed specifically as a space maximising container, but features arrows carved out of the cardboard to demonstrate to the consumer which pieces of the puzzle need to be removed first. Upon connecting the device to the console and turning the Xbox 360 on, the player will be asked to install a short update, before being confronted with an amiable on-screen set-up manual.
