The Last Guardian Q&A: Fumito Ueda Discusses Intentions, Inspiration and Emotional Impact

Created by the team behind the critically-acclaimed ICO and Shadow of the Colossus, The Last Guardian is undoubtedly one of the most highly-anticipated PlayStation 3 exclusive titles set to arrive next year. At the helm of the project, multi-award-winning game director Fumito Ueda is certainly aware of the expectations of his latest title, but seems surprisingly calm working under such pressure.

I missed out on ICO and Shadow of the Collosus, so I'm really looking forward to playing the collection first and then getting my hands on the The Last Guardian. Both are day one for me.

.
Enjoy them by the time the collection released.

Truly amazing games.

And a great warm up before playing The Last Guardian, because the collection shows how Team ICO games would play, art style, themes, etc.

watching a Hayao Miyazaki movie. It would be amazing if the two studios combined their talents.

Huwmor2657d ago

I don't see how they could "combine". Like transformers? Confused face :-/

SkyCrawler2657d ago

Like they both come up with a very good story together and team ico could make the game mechanics while Miyazaki follows through the progress giving suggestions etc.

I think Shadow of the Colossus is the only game to ever elicit an emotion response besides frustration and glee from gameplay rather than story. From the grand landscapes and epic feel of the gameplay, to the events of the story, it remains one of my most enjoyed games of all time.

I for one, can't wait to get my hands on the last guardian :)

Its becoming increasingly harder to sift through all the Kinect and Black Ops nonsense these days.

mantisimo2657d ago

I totally agree how many Black ops and Kinect articles can actually be interesting, bit of Gran Turismo as well.

This will be an absolutely fantastic game and if they make the creature a little like Yorda in Ico, not always doing exactly as told, it would make it all the more playable and real.

If you haven't played Ico and Shadow yet then buy the HD remakes asap, you will not regret it!

King-Leonidas2657d ago

100% agree u guys should buy it when it comes out

Cenobia2657d ago

That is what they are doing actually.

Trico is harder to deal with when you first team up with him. It sounds like you actually need to trick him to make him cooperate sometimes. They mentioned throwing a barrel to show him where to go (he investigates where it lands and you can climb him or whatnot).

I think that info was in Game Informer.
