NVIDIA GeForce GTX 580 Benchmarks

The GTX 580 is what you would call the tip of Fermi’s “mid-life kicker” iceberg and is meant to keep the title of the world’s fastest DX11 GPU firmly within NVIDIA’s grasp. To do this, their engineers took the GF100 architecture and basically optimized it for better overall performance, lower power consumption and greater efficiency throughout the rendering pipeline.

If anyone is about to buy a new video card I hope these benchmarks help in your decision making (HD 6970 comes out in two weeks so wait a bit) as these are some of the most reliable Benchmarks online. All settings set to high, Tessellation On, HBAO on, Post Processing High , SSAO on and they always use 4x AA and 16x AF.

They even do extreme testing with 8xAA 16xAF so you get a real sense of MAXED out performance which is what a $500 card should always be doing and at 1920 x 1080 or higher.

The GTX 580 is a great card and it looks like Nvidia solved the heat problem. So the GTX 580 performs on par or slightly better than a GTX 460 SLi set-up that is $100 cheaper.

The HD 5970 is still king buh buh buh it is a dual GPU card, funny I don't remember that argument when the GTX 295 was crowned king of the world.

I am waiting to see what the dual high end solution for AMD is going to be.

"better overall performance, lower power consumption and greater efficiency throughout the rendering pipeline"

Good, because Fermi GPUs are freaking space heaters, man.
